GTKRadiant 1.5.0 Beta (win32) released

(nUllSkillZ) #1

Hi,

I’ve found a news at http://www.level-designer.de about a new version of GTKRadiant:
http://www.qeradiant.com/

(Victorianetza) #2

i will download it right away, and tell if worths the time for downloading

(Q.) #3

It’s only 4 or 5 MegaBytes in size.

(Orange) #4

That smiley looks angry at first look… (the red one)
Anyway, that’s a beta, and I am not willing to take the risk, I have enough troubles already…

(.Chris.) #5

this version seems to have solved a problem i have had since stated mapping a year ago, texture not displayed properly in 3D view, i can now see it all how it will look like in game, i used have to test it all time to see how it looks. but only thing is how do i select just one side of a brush now? ctrl shift mouse 1 selects all for me???

(e^chaplja) #6

The file is so small cuz wit installation u don’t get .map file’s … Now they are seperated …

(zig-zag) #7

To select a single face of a brush, press “F” to enable face mode. Then shift-click the
desired face.
I like this version so far except for cloning doesn’t select the cloned brush or offset it.
But it has Doom3 support

(Q.) #8

Really?
That’s funny
It seems to me it is well tanned.

(Orange) #9

lol

The offset thing is ok with me, sometimes you just want to move the cloned brush on one axis, but that’s useless if it doesn’t select the cloned brush…

There is a newer build (08-17) of 1.5.0 available for download here.

I don’t like how face selection works in this version.

It takes longer to select a face then before version 1.5.0, when you just selected a face with shift+click.
I don’t even know how to paint the texture of the selected face to anohter face :S

1.5.0 method:

  1. Select brush.
  2. Click face selection button or press “f”.
  3. Shift+click a selection point on the brush.
When you select a selection point on the brush you even have to click very precise to click the side you want selected, cause you see the points on the other side of the brush to.

(Chruker) #11

I agree with you the faceselection is a pain in the …

(.Chris.) #12

yeah that can be troublesome and switching between different modes to be able to clip a brush and then resize it can be tedious, pressing x once to clip and again to not clip seems not to work anymore, this new one will take some gettting used to. Iam using 1.4.0 for building the map and 1.5.0 for texture stuff as anything earlier than 1.5.0 doesnt display textures properly in 3D view. apart from few probs i dont mind it

(Q.) #13

1.5.0 enables quickie scaling and rotating for mapmodel.
This seems to be quite useful by itself.

(Orange) #14

Finally, a good reason to update…

(GRouZER) #15

Please send the “problems” to the qeradiant bug report, cause i think the more people complain about it the more chance we’ll have that it 'll be changed in the next version.

I’m now using the latest official released beta GtkRadiant 1.5.0 2004-08-17.
And I have discovered that the entries in the “Textures”-menu are wrong.
If there’s a sub-directory available (for example: “egypt” > ) then the last sub-directory is the next main-directory (in this case: “egypt” > “factory_sd”).
“factory_sd” should be available as main-directory.

So if you miss some textures just look in the former sub-directory.

Edit:

Some of the entries are missing totally.

Last edit is not true.
I’ve made a mistake.

Is there a simple way to clone (and align) textures from one face to another in 1.5?
E.g. like in 1.4:
CTRL+SHIFT+MOUSE1 in 3D-View = select face
and then
CTRL+SHIFT+MOUSE3 in 3D-View = copy texture to a face and align it to the source
