GtkRadiant 1.4 - shortcuts.ini weirdness

(HairyPlums) #1

Strange problem…

I want to customize my Radiant shortcuts, and found that you can edit a list of shortcuts in the Radiant-1.4 folder below the main RtCW one (C:\Program Files\Return to Castle Wolfenstein\Radiant-1.4 on my Windows XP box).

But it don’t work :frowning: - when I try to change the camera movement keys from the default arrows to reflect the in-game ones i.e.

CameraForward=W
CameraBack=S
CameraLeft=A
CameraRight=D

…the camera just “flies” when you press the direction key defined above (it keeps moving even when you release the key). Anyone got a shortcuts.ini working and can offer any pointers?

Cheers,

Plummy

Only arrow keys are supported atm for the camera due to the way GTK handles keypresses.

Being a die-hard WolfRad user for about 4-5 months, I prefer 1.3 full package for Quake3/RTCW/ET now. It’s pretty solid. I tried the latest version of 1.4 and nothing seemed to work the way I wanted it too. Also, the new Q3map2 .bsp compiler is awesome, but it requires A LOT of .dll files I had to Google for.

For ANY download of Radiant, go to ftp.idsoftware.com, go to the QEradiant folder, then the GTKradiant folder.

All of the required DLL’s come with GtkRadiant 1.4 :smiley: - if you want to stick with Radiant 1.3x, just install 1.4 to a temp folder & copy the DLL’s out.

FWIW, 1.4 is virtually identical to 1.3.14

I would consider staying on 1.2.x for RTCW, but if you are using 1.3, I would suggest using the latest.

If reyalP says this…then best do so…
