gtkradiant 1.4 behaviour with core i3

(sd2009) #1

Hi,

I have a new core i3 based machine. It has an Intel graphics adapter that shows a strange behaviour. Can any one help me with the customization?

If I select View/Entities as/Skinned and Boxed from the menu of the gtkradiant 1.4
the brushes are not textured and not visible. If I select View/Entities as/Bounding Box, the brushes are visible.

If I select the brushes, they are not marked as
selected in the 3D view(Red highlighted). Selecting one face does not mark the texture
red.

This did not happen with my Macbook Pro laptop that died a few months ago.

Please, see the attached screen shots for more details.

Thank you.

I had a similar problem with a dell netbook a couple years ago. Except textures in the distance would be see-through in the camera window. I never could get it working, so I ended up using a desktop for mapping.
About your problem, I have no idea, as I’ve never had this problem before. Sorry about the death of your Macbook Pro. :frowning:

make sure your drivers are up to date from Intel, Vista and 7 have incomplete video drivers

Thanks for your help and ideas. I found a work around like always. I switch between two settings until I update my drivers, although my desktop is the newest in the line. It has a core i3 quad cpu machine. If the gtkradiant 1.4 displays the entities as a simple box, it will show the whole world brushes correctly but I cannot see the models and the entities. In order to see them I switch the radiant settings to show entities in full detail. It is a bit inconveniant but it works.

Glad you found a workaround. How’s the progress of your maps?

I am preparing my desktop to start working again on my projects. You know this includes preparing the backups from my dead laptop, the scripts, the models, the textures, and the map files etc… .
