GTK/Net radiant models.

(Justice) #1

I’m working on my second map and I have a small problem. Some models I add in NetRadiant are shown in the program, but not in game. A truck for example; it’s body does not show up, but the wheels do…

I believe I should copy ET’s model folder somewhere, but I wouldn’t know where. Could anybody help me out on this one?

Thanks in advance, Anton.

P.S: I’m using misc_gamemodel.

What do you mean with “doesn’t show up”? Do you see green, blue, red x-y-z-angles or do you see nothing?

For now I guess you see nothing. And I guess you get an entity leaked error when you compile your map. If so the origin of the entity is placed inside a brush (which is structural). To fix this you have to make the brush detailed. But if this brush part of the box around your map you need to move your misc_gamemodel to another place or cut the structural brush into pieces.

You need to put the models you use in a PK3 for them to be found when running sv_pure 1.

Otherwise you could run the game with sv_pure 0, which allows loading files outside of PK3s - good for testing.

(I think that’s right anyway…)

Thank you both for your replies

wezelkrozum:
It doesn’t show up indeed. I do not get an error converting, if I did I wouldn’t be able to use the bsp.

valkyr:
But I got the md3 files from pak0, so those models are always in a pk3 at the right location…

I’ve tried changing misc_gamemodel to misc_model and it worked, but now I ran into another problem:

It’s all black except for the fenders…

Afaik you are missing these:
https://zerowing.idsoftware.com/svn/radiant.gamepacks/ETPack/trunk/

You can download it as zip over here ETPack.zip:

Still the same :S

I already had those files, I believe.

The reason it gets black is that the shader is not build to be used as a misc_model.

Turn it back to misc_gamemodel. The truck should appear if you move the truck a little up (or make the floor brush detail ctrl+m, if it is a possibility in the case). The error is that the origin is inside a structural brush and your floor brush is one. The origin is where the arrow is when you use W key tool.

So in short either move the truck a little up or to a different location. Or select floor brush and press CTRL+M (Makes the brush detail).
