GSP allowed access

(Hueco) #1

For our other hosted game server (BC2) we got a list of what access we really could have on the server.

Right now for Brink we got access to the server.cfg and thats it. Next to that we can do a manual update and check the server status.

I could ask for access to more (like having access to brinkconfig.cfg) , but I guess it might be the same as BC2 that there is a allowed list somewhere from the devs.

So I thougth lets first ask here.

You should have FTP connection details so you can ccess any and all reas of your server, if usign the web panel via a browser it can be limited.

The server files are freely available to anyoen that wants them.

ill have a chat with my gsp then. Having only access to the server.cfg is quite limiting.

The only games I can think of that require a GSP to limit access is for EA ranked games. There may be some others, but I have only experienced it with EA Ranked games.

A freely released to use server binary should be provided complete access to all game server files.

Depends on if he is renting gameservers by the slot or renting a managed DS/VDS. If it’s a managed DS/VDS he will be limited to what he can and can’t access. If it’s by the slot or an unmanaged DS/VDS, you should have ftp access, or at least some form of file transfer, or in the case of an unmanaged DS/VDS, well, you prob wouldnt be asking those questions in the first place.

All the questions are better suited for your GSP forums though. Not much ppl can do here to help you. SD doesnt have any say in what your GSP offers you for access. Brink isn’t like BC2 or Battlefield 2/2142 where Dice limits clients access to server files.

There are no imposed restrictions on what your GSP can/can’t give you access to
It’s entirely up to them
