-gridscale ?

(Hewster) #1

Hi,

Now we have these wonderful ways of tweaking our lighting levels
ie : areascale, pointscale, scale, sky & bouncescale…

I wonder will we be getting a -gridscale ?

I ask because in a re-compile I’m doing of WildWest town, I have got
the lighting as I want it, but the light-grid is a bit dark… too dark :frowning:
I know I could spend the time and add loads of light juniors, but a
simple “-gridscale” would be much easier

Or is it already there ?

Cheers,
Hewster

What version are you using?

I did use test9 just before i made this post, I have since tweeked a bit,
and tried test-10, and the results are better…

I know what my problem is… Its because I’m using q3map_lightmapGamma
quite extensively to brighten up the shadows, along with 1.5 bouncescale
and so its causing this imbalance between the lightgrid & the appreance
of the textures in-game…

I tried using bouncegrid, but found the player models were getting
lit more from the bounce than from the direct light ?

if i had a -gridscale option, I could easily bump the lightgrid
up ?

Anyhow, I’m putting in juniors now, and this is working out ok
