Hi all…what would be a good grid size for a medium sized map to start with ? Im pretty new at mapping but since my visits here at splashdamage , iv’e been able to build a map and actually play it on E.T…(i’m so proud of myself
) im trying to keep the questions to a minimum as this is a gret resorce site, but any tips would be apreciated !
Grid size
Around the 5120 units x and y.
But if I was you I should first draw the map on paper and than work out one area of your map. Than you can look how big the map should be.
I guess you mean the light grid size… so 128 128 128 is a good value. On my map I had to go up quite stong on that as it’s quite big. I’m using 1024 1024 2048.
what wezelkrozum meant is …
5120 = e.g. 5120 miles in a coordinate system , but radiant has no miles it just has numbers…
…you can see the 0 0 0 point in the editor (a green and a blue line vertical to each…)
at the top of the editor’s window are numbers representing the x- value…
he means that you should go 5120 grids(grids are those small “boxes”) to the right and i think he means a square => even 5120 grids towards the top of the window…
if you e.g. press the number 9 on your keyboaard you only see “boxes” of the size 2^9 (222222222)
but the numbers at the top are the same… they represent the grids (equivalent to e.g. miles)
