So I know from looking around it seems that there is a little bit of a divide on these forums about the idea of grenades and other things you can throw. Personally I feel grenades could be done tastefully if done on a decent tiered system… This would mean certain Mercs could select a grenade or throwable from a pre-determined tier or lower tiers than their capability. I feel this could also be mixed in with character special grenade options or even making them locked to a full class.
Obviously the higher the Tier the “better” the grenade. However better does not always mean ideal…
Example of grenades…
Tier 1 - All on 20sec cooldown
T1 - Mini
T1 - Impact
T1 - EMP
Tier 2 - All on 35sec cooldown
T2 - Frag
T2 - Impact
T2 - Flash
T2 - Smoke
Tier 3 - All on 50sec cooldown / 60sec split between number of nades max
T1 - Mini x 3
T1 - Impact x 2
T1 - Flash x 2
T3 - HE
T3 - Impact
SPECIALS - Merc Dependent cooldown
Heal Bomb - Sawbones / Aura / Phonix
Revive Bomb - Aura
Molotov - Stoker
Gas - Stoker / Thunder
Full Flash - Thunder
Super HE - Fragger
Thick Smoke - Redeye
Motion Mine - Aimee / Vas / Phantom
Third Eye Cam - Aimee / Vas / Phantom
Extra Mine - Fletcher
Extra Nade - Nader
While I understand the fear of spamming nades onto objectives I do not feel that nades have to be particularly powerful especially T1 and T2. They should be used more to initiate or aid an escape… Even with longer cooldowns I feel the issues would be negated.
Regardless… I just kinda expect to see nades come back into the game and thought this would be a good way to balance them if they did.
