Grenade/Molotov Glitches

(Oschino1907) #1

I have come across 4 that happen to me fairly often, not game breaking but def a big annoyance especially when not prepared for it to happen while in an intense battle (especially while playing Soldier Class). How many of you have had any of these 4 problems that I have encountered and what are your thoughts and experiances? Oh and I am on PS3, so please add your platform if you have had experiances that differ.

1- The Phantom Grenade - Simply put, you go to throw a grenade and well nothing happens at all. It gets thrown but I guess hits that magic 88mph mid air and it activates the internal flux capacitor sending it to another time (Maybe it was that magic grenade that killed you at the start of a match in COD4 3 years ago?).

2- The Molotov That Never Was - Well this one is easy to work around if your on your toes, it happens after you throw a fresh molotov, your molotov meter will say you still have one to use but when you go to use it, it seems like its working well enough until you release it and it dissappears mid air. Problem comes with the fact that the meter for the molotov wont refill until after you throw the second (fake) one that it says you HAVE.

3- The Wait, But I Didn’t Mean To… - This one pisses me off the most of them all as it has caused me to kill myself more then once. In this glitch you press the grenade button and well it seems as if nothing happens at all, must have just not registered me hitting the button, right? Then you release to press again and a grenade or molotov launches out as you pull one back to throw which ends up being a dud.

4- The I Swear It’s Usually Bigger! - This one is for those who have upgraded grenades, it happens seemingly without pattern and sometimes hard to pick up. What happens is you chuck out one of your Macho Man hairy chested upgraded Soldier grenades and it ends up being a Topher Grace tryin to play Venom pussy grenade. I love announcing over my mic that I have a fresh upgraded grenade ready to clear an objective or room and chuck it in and run only to have it do a little poof in the crowd and knock over 2 people.

Again doesnt ruin the game but def one of my biggest annoyances thus far regarding gameplay glitches. Another one goin on with guns shooting/reloading getting slightly mixed up when doin multiple actions at once but havnt encountered it enough to really get down the whole process that happens and what exactly I might be doing to cause it.

This happens to me quite a bit, I agree with everything you posted. This also happens quite often with revive syringes caltrops and pretty much all thrown objects

This thread seems alot more comprehensive and detailed, maybe you should post your issues here

But mine was here first. if i made a more comprehensive and bigger thread about the DLc would it take over the sticky one? no.

I was going to post this up myself  I have noticed since the last patch that the nades have a glitch just like you mention.

I am on PC and playing as a Covert Ops. I have noticed that if I throw a caltrop grenade, within a few seconds I have a caltrop grendade available again. However when I throw the caltrop a 2nd time, it vanishes into thin air and I have to wait for the caltrop to cooldown again, in practice adding the cooldown twice.

Been noticing it more with other classes recently, seems like any special grenade like molotov, lazerus or caltrops all do it. Havnt had it happend with emp yet though but dont use it often enough to say is never does. Hope is doesnt do the same with new abilities that are thrown, if so a patch very soon to adress it would be AWESOME!

This happens in almost every game. Certainly types 1 and 2.
Hoping for a fix soon.
It seems to happen with all d-pad selected thrown objects.
Particularly frustrating when it lets you ‘throw’ the invisible/non-existant nade before your molotov or caltrops actually work.

Probably not, but if your other thread was stickied then people would probably be using that… if it’s not then it’s probably for a reason

Yeah grenades are a joke on PC too, even upgraded ones. And WHO was that genious who designed the grenade timer sound? It kinda ticks but the ticking accellerates like mad!!! Now, any kid who played games with cooked grenades knows that the best way to time cooking grenades is to count ticks (plus the natural time feeling again which is known in humans as inner clock). The accellerating ticking totally disturbs the counting and measuring time! And measuring by definition means counting out equal passages of something (length, volume, time, etc.).
So how did it happen that the devs didn’t realize that? Priming grenades carefully no longer works for me in this game. I demand new grenade tick counter sound. Or at least an alternative sound which can be setup by a cvar.

I agree that its diff and not easy to get used to but if you just count in your head and try to not pay attention to the sound its not that big of a problem. But I will def say it took a lilttle time to get used to the clicks and timing the throw.

The grenades are fine though, they arent meant to be group killers, and I find very effective ways to use them. I know I may not kill tons with them but I sure know if I was on the other team I would really be pissed when I keep getting knocked down every couple of secs and losing half my health. For me getting knocked down in a fire fight is the biggest annoyance ever especially when you dont realize right away and your just laying on the ground and cant move but are still trying to fight.

I have #1 and #2 on pc too very annoying you just have to kind of guess when it is actually filled sometimes.

I never really noticed it till today, but I was throwing nades in laggy matches, and I would swear a Molotov would hit someone, but nothing, and after trying again and watching the Molotov, I would see it fly and mid air, go nowhere.

Once I actually threw a Molotov and it made like a grenade… epic win. XD

I dislike how you cant even blow yourself up with a grenade anymore, if you try to hold on to the grenade till it blows up the system decides you were probably distracted by the cat doing a wierd thing with its leg and you didnt mean to hold it that long, so it throws it for you…and it throws it pretty far to be honest, you cant even cook grenades for very close combat :frowning:
