Same concept as the Ark. The technology to see it succeed isn’t available yet, but not too far off I’d imagine. It’s interesting at any rate.
Green Float Concept
I cannott believe that people do not focuse more on these things in general. Effective infrastructure and energy saving cities etc. It would improve our world so much;p
The innovation is heavily tied to the price of oil, which due to the crisis is rather low. Because the price of oil shifts so much, it’s also pretty hard to have sustained innovation. Many innovating projects crash and burn every time the price of oil drops.
I think the best innovation right now would be to stabilise the price of oil. Subsidise when it becomes expensive, tax it when it gets cheap. That way innovation isn’t hampered.
You’re right, I’m aware of the fact that oil does ruin a lot of the futuristic projects in terms of alternative energy etc. but I’m just surprised that not many have even dared taking a step yet, trying to improve thing. I know that a lot of gas stations in my country have started selling bio fuel now, which in my eyes is a huge step forward, if others would just dare to take the risk, I’d be clappin’ my hands;p
Bio fuels are deeply problematic as well. Only the third and four generation (like algae) stand some chance. We’re still stuck at the first (crops) and slowly going to the second (the cellulose of the crops). The bio fuel still doesn’t have a real positive energy which means we’re actually wasting energy on bio fuels.
The point is is that the innovating is incredibly expensive and needs to be backed up by long therm profits. The innovation is as valuable as the old thing it replaces.
There’s also an incredibly stupid cycle going on. When the economy is rising, people tend to vote progressively yet the environment is put aside for economical growth, yet when the economy is falling, people tend to vote conservatively who have nothing with the environment either.
We’re living in an extremely short-sighted world, yet our work doesn’t turn on a dime. Our economy is sluggish, our climate lags 15 years behind our actions, and even though we know our resources are running out. We’re living like there’s no tomorrow, while we all know damn well that there is a tomorrow.
That’s what makes Brink’s background so compelling. It’s a retake on the old tale The Little Red Hen. Except with a non-happy ending.
Yeah biofuel is awesome, you cut down **** load of rainforest and plant palm in its place which doesnt do any harm what so ever!
You need to cover an area that is 97% of the US surface with corn crops to make all the American cars drive on biofuel.
Talking about being environmentally friendly I’m going to chuck in a couple of video’s here:
But there is no profit in it, and in today’s society and culture, it is more valuable to make money than to help humanity.
I think the best innovation right now would be to stabilise the price of oil. Subsidise when it becomes expensive, tax it when it gets cheap. That way innovation isn’t hampered.
I think using alternate fuel sources and doing away with oil altogether would be even better.
fusion reactors are the future. They are clean, not that dangerous and produce far more energy than nuclear reactors.
That’s the point. The problem is that innovation of alternate fuels is severely harmed by the erratic oil price. The innovation is a long term thing and because of the bouncing oil price projects keep going bankrupt.
