Great idea for "ragdoll" problem

(Murderous Pie) #1

Many people have been complaining about not having ragdolls. the simple way to fix this is to change the way the medic revives people. instead of having the medic throw the syringe at the dead guy, have him inject the dead guy like most games BUT give the dead guy the option to use the playdead command from W: ET. the reason ragdolls could not be implamented was because of the whole animation that the model shows when the player revives himself, so instead of injecting himself with the needle he could just get up, like BFBC2.

Good idea, but I don´t miss the ragdoll function so far

Me neither, but it may be something to tweak for a sequel so that they can get people who are really irked about that

(JeP) #4

Was it really worth a new topic ? To suggest they get it back like other games, basically ?

(Murderous Pie) #5

no, you still would not have to get up (that’s what they were fixing in the first place)

(JeP) #6

That’s still just BFBC2 with a yes/no question. Or what they did in ETQW : you choose before a medic is on you. But that wouldn’t solve the “ragdoll problem” : they wanted to make it clear you were to the ground wanting help, thus excluding a ragdoll in your fall.

No. There needs to be a easy visual que to show who is actually dead and who is not.
We can’t have icons for everything…

(tokamak) #8

We already have ORANGE JELLY telling who’s alive and who isn’t. So no icons or animations needed either way.

This is a very good idea, but it has a lot of flaws. First off, ragdolls require body to fly away, or just move somewhere. That can result in the Medic not being able to reach the player. Also, it would render the ability to shoot while down useless. That ability will be used by most of the players anyway.

Personally, I don’t think that this game can get ragdoll effects unless the body only have ragdoll effects after the player is full killed (ex. being hit by a grenade launcher while already down should result in the body flying away).

Am I the only one who remembers Badman saying there was ragdoll physics for dead bodies?

Don’t really care about ragdoll in this game really but it’s pretty funny when a player gets down while falling from a ledge.

Couldn’t this commentary have just been put in the other ragdoll thread?

Here it is: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showpost.php?p=277739&postcount=47

Ofcourse there are some physics. Look at the ability trailer where some guy climbs up the wall and shoots shotgun into the back of another guy. Then that other guy falls down, without any ragdoll physics he would just die on the same spot.

Fixed.

Syringe DARTS!

(Linsolv) #17

Actually that made it 10x more hilarious to have the downed animation play, since he was clearly just falling in a parabolic path while laying down. I’m not particularly a fan of ragdoll, but that shot wasn’t great.

(DouglasDanger) #18

No, I remember it too.

(trigg3r) #19

nope.

but ppl here tends to ignore everyone else’s post. Like they just ignored yours and kept talking about the absence of ragdoll in brink -_-

(JeP) #20

I remember it, I tend to believe blindly SD, but still the “ragdoll problem” takes place not on dead bodies but on people getting knock down/incapacitated and by that thrown to the ground and having a really weird movement.

I agree with these people on it being not good looking, but still I don’t care.
