Great game, but needs new content ASAP.

I think most people here would agree. There is new content on the way, we just don’t know when yet.

This has been a great journey with RAD Soldiers, and i can securely say that most would agree that it is one of the BEST games out there. I look forward to RAD Soldiers achieving world wide phenomenal game status on par with popular games like Angry Birds or PVZ. RAD Soldiers also has a more organized feedback system where gamers can interact with dev, and for once devs would actually respond, look into or even consider feedbacks. Unlike my last fav game TWOM: The World Of Magic, it ended up with endless cycle of pet release, increased game lag-ness, multiple unfixed bugs and spelling errors. Over the course of 2 years the game is still incomplete with little to no game content being updated. The lack of new content would have been fine if it was a complete game, but it wasn’t ; with plenty of incomplete missions. So keep up the good work everyone in Splash Damage!!!

If there is one thing i would like to see in RAD Soldiers it is a storyline. Maybe a storyline of each toon, and challenges(which we control as gameplay) that they have faced to be who they are. Also the rocket landings in london seems to be a chapter 1 of a story, yet i don’t sense a story coming along. The current fixed and custom challenges also does nothing to contribute to the story. Im sure many would agree that part of a game’s charm is the storyline, just like FFIV. The gameplay wasn’t revolutionary, but the story… Well, that’s EpiC-ness on a different level…

I love this game too and would like to see it do exceptionally well and stay around for ages. To make that more likely it is important to retain as many players as possible because the multiplayer is where the longevity lies for a game like this. With an iOS game more than most other formats, retaining players means keeping things fresh and interesting. IMHO iOS gamers in general (of which we probably are not a truly representative subset) are a fickle bunch with questionable loyalty. There are zillions of apps and games competing for their attention and they are entirely accustomed to dabbling with a game until it starts to get repetitive or boring then abandoning it to play something else, all with minimal inconvenience and possibly no cost. Retaining that kind of player requires a different outlook.

I think that there are a few things that SD could do differently and I offer these thoughts constructively because I do love this game.

  1. Make better use of the in-game news, which hasn’t been updated for two months. Tell people that there is a big, interesting update coming so that even if they decide to take a break they leave the game installed. When the update arrives hopefully they receive a notification in Notification Centre and pick up where they left off. Very few players seem to read these forums so there’s a good chance that the majority of players don’t even know that more content is imminent. Once a game has been uninstalled that player may never even become aware of subsequent improvements / expansions / content drops.

  2. Aim for regular updates rather than huge, comprehensive ones that take a long while to code and test. The other games that Coup mentioned (Angry Birds and PvZ) both did this when they were “young” and still make a pretty good job of it now, even though they are now well established brands which have created the perception and expectation in players that more content will continue to arrive on a regular basis. Separate balancing tweaks from new content drops if that helps - anything to make people feel that updates are regular and the game should remain installed.

  3. Find a way to promote knowledge of these forums. The easiest way I can think of would be to drop something into the in-game news to say “Join the discussion at http://…” and to put a high-profile link on the Facebook page. Talking about Rad Soldiers - as we do - helps to maintain interest in Rad Soldiers. People can also find opponents here capable of offering an enjoyable (and occasionally even varied!) game.

I don’t want these comments to sound like criticisms because I have become a big fan of SD and Rad Soldiers. I just think that iOS is a new playing field and a slight change in philosophy and approach might yield even better results for the game, the company and for us as the most dedicated of players.

Great list of suggestions there!

As Andy says, new content is on the way (including a new city). It’s our biggest update yet, so it’s taken us a while. We hope to have more information for you after the Easter break.

It’s also great that you guys are active on your forums and receptive to player feedback - it’s a definite strength that many companies seem to overlook.

Looking forward to more info. Have a great Easter break, everyone!
