it takes about 5 minutes to find a game and instead of sitting watching menus for that 5 minutes, you go to do something and while gone you finally enter and game and get kicked… I have never played a game in my life where you spend more time watching menus than actually playing the game. Really doesnt need 4-5 load screens and there should be a skip function when they are gong over the rules…
Gotta love it...
Welcome to Dirty Bomb Random Match Making. It’s a good thing you haven’t had the wrong end of the stick yet.
inb4 game has low pop
At one point, I waited like 59:59 and it just went back to the main menu… what a croc full of cow dung it was. It won’t be long before this game gives you ADHD.
It takes me 1-2 minutes to get into a casual match pretty much every time I’ve tried. If you really can’t stay within eye-shot of your computer for a couple minutes, that’s your problem, not DB’s. Of course you’ll get kicked if you’re AFK when the match starts. Use the server browser if it’s really that much of a problem to you.
Besides, long wait times aren’t something that can just be removed. DB isn’t making you wait just for the hell of it, it’s looking for players and building a team that won’t result in a complete one-sided spawncamp. It’s not the game’s fault there aren’t enough players for it to be quicker.
The loading screens are a pain too, but that’s part of the game’s general poor optimization, and it might be too difficult to smooth that out to be worth it. The devs have also already commented on skippable level tutorials a few days ago, and they’re against it.
Just gonna link this here as this topic has already been discussed: http://forums.dirtybomb.com/discussion/39014/skip-briefing-vote#latest
if your timer for ranked only gets to about 5 mins before a game starts, consider yourself lucky

Be a perfect spot for opening up maps for practice jumps and stuff
Maybee ad some mercs running around clueless in random movements to shoot at
It takes 10 sec to join a match… just use the server browser.
Sure, balance will be horrible, it’s gonna suck, but it’s not worse than MM. And you can just leave and join another server 10 sec later.

Gonna say this now; the fact that this concept is even a thing is why you can’t expect balance in pub games in DB. It’s a drop-in / drop-out system, the ingame shuffle is a joke and a disgraceful mess, and most new players seem to have trouble doing anything outside understanding wasd and shooting with their mouse. I could carry on with the list of problems but I already did that at least twice in posts where that was more relevant. So I’ll leave it at don’t even waste time with CMM right now; the system itself is in a bad state right now partially due to a flawed balancing system and the lack of people using it now, due to a growing disillusionment with it that has only worsened over time.
TL;DR - A lot of things in this game need a massive overhaul that’ll hopefully be dealt with before 1.0 but for now just use server browser and avoid CMM. If you are doing ranked do it with at least 1 or 2 other people and wait til next season; Ranked is rather dead outside Europe right now due to an incident that caused it to be taken down for months (Flashbacks to Season 1 anybody?).

Right now, according to Steam charts, there are 1,231 people playing Dirty Bomb.
I think it’s fair to assume maybe 331 of those peeps are afk or dicking around in menues or whatev.
That leaves 900 players in matches. Divide that into regions ( EU, NA and Asia; SA is probably too small to care about ), then divide into three playlists ( server browser, CMM and ranked ).
That’s average 100 players per playlist per region.
Before some wiseass comes in and starts picking apart my argument based off assumption of equivalent distribution, the point is average 100 players per playlist per region is shit.
That’s the #1 reason why I’m opposed to execution returning.
I blame SD for a lot of their failures. This is one area I don’t put too much fault onto SD for cause player count isn’t something they can influence directly. Technically, yes, having so many playlists isn’t a good idea, but that’s a between Charybdis and Scylla type thing. That said, if their solution is to remove server browser, I am 100% done with this game, which tbh, has already been circling the drain.
As for why Dirty Bomb is pretty much completely dead outside of EU? I think it’s an issue with Dirty Bomb’s identity being continually diluted. Good players want to play a good game, and as long as you produce that good game, they will probably follow you. Through thick and thin, when you turn around, they will probably be there. Casual players will flit between FotM’s. They’re capricious and cannot be relied on, and I think it’s pretty clear Splash Damage is pivoting toward casual.
