good bot idea

got a cool idea for a bot when looking at another bot post

how about a bot that is ran from the client side independantly of the server (i belive this is called hooked or something) so the server considers it to be like any other player

there is some file somewhere that u put in your player alias, the bot then folows you around and lends you a hand, as long as the waypoint files are held on the client side and only the bot needs them so that should be ok right

then basicly you chose the class of your bot its name weapon etc… then if you make the bot react to quicchat comands from you player e.g. you call medic then as long as the bot is a medic he will give u health packs… if you die then he auto tries to revive you etc. ask for cover fire and he croutches in he currect postion and fires at enamies untill you say “move” then he runs back to you… that sorta stuff

But you’ll probably have some troubles with etpro because of his anti cheat code.

You could also control temporarily a bot (a coverops, an eng, …) to do some special tasks.

i was actualy trying to leave as mutch of that out as posible to the player may not even need to run a mod, the bod could be a program that runs paralel to ET and you put your alias beforehand to the bot no what its doing

i though that like for dyno if you bot is an engineer you call v24 and it works on the nearest constructable/destructable thing it can find

also i supose this raises moral isues here, how far from cheating is using a bot to help you, if it was just a team player maby but if individuals use them to help they could theoreticly get the abilites of two classes a medic and enginee could be hard to stop skilled players… and how would the bots aim, the easiest way would be to make them 100%acurate but then other player wouldnt be able to beat them… one way i though was to base the bots acuracy on the players acuracy rating and improve it byt 15% when it croutches

It should still be detected as a cheat.

Why not do that all serversided? I client could just control the bot by messaging the server.

i supose that would work

would you still be able to us v say though, its quick easy and most people already no the important says if you had to add like 20 binds of server comands adn then u gota remember that j = i need ammo etc… would get a bit comfusing

agreed, unless there could be some server setting which sets wether ‘helper bot’ are allowed or not, even if just “sets helperbot 1” or something (and ofcourse absence of any ‘helperbot’ in serverinfo is taken as 0).

hmm i u dont have worry about anticheat …
simply turn of it and run bots
and then , you dont need run it on ETPro at all …
There are other mods worth this more than ETPro…

I’m not sure the concern is as to anticheat being a problem with the bots, but more wether some kind of helper bot should be considered some kind of cheat, or rather, something undesirable unless server has specifically OK’d it (IMHO anyway).
