Hi, I am using the goldrushmap atm and i am editing it. My problem is that the terrain isnt at the right place, the single textures doesnt fit together at the borders. do I have to copy a shader or smth? I didnt edit the terrain so i wonder what I did wrong btw what i have to do to have it right.
goldrush terrain
i’m not sure what you mean but if it this i had, too you must side-stretch it at the one side that the brush grows, on the other side that it decreases its size as it was before… so the texture “moved”, because the brush moved… but this way the texture hasnt been fixed… so NOW you pull the brush back and the borders shoul fit together
ok, a new try.
My goldrush.map looks weird when i compile it. I didnt change something of the terrain but it doesnt look like the terrain of the real goldrush. The textures are moved or stretched …
Hi, I am using the goldrushmap atm and i am editing it.
Ehr, for what purpose if I may ask?
Do you think you can offer something different than those gazillion other Goldrush rip-offs?
Just goes to say, don’t steal, copy or rework an existing map without permission.
WTH ? what is your problem? I tell you that i have a terrain problem and you tell me I dont shall steal a free map? And I dont shall make a further supergoldrush30000 blablalbla? THANK YOU I LOVE YOU TOO! omg when you dont have to write smth to this post then let it be!
If i would talk about another map then i would mayby understand you … but in this case … boah. And who says i am doing a public map for one of you who just can cry about the works of others before they see the finished work?
WOOT, ZE SA3HHH???
Please, tell about your problem in detail as no-one here has the slightest clue what your “terrain problem” is.
Also, those billions of goldrush maps out there have almost nothing changed, making more of these maps is a waste of time and i hope you are using that map for learning purpouses only.
I C4N N07 h4zzz und3r$74nd u 3itheR?!
And as you said, don’t write anything if you don’t have anything useful to say.
Sorry, I just needed to vent my “not another goldrush map”-feeling.

Still, a free .map files doesn’t mean that you are free to copy from it and it’s not because people did it before you that it suddenly became possible to do.
Anyway, back to your question. As Mirka said, nobody understands your vague problems. Please post a screenshot to clarify your situation and maybe we can help.
Well, i was a bit harsh too ^^ sorry.
Thats the original:
(super, upload doesnt really work, just as link)
This is how both map files look in the editor
it could be that my original goldrush.map was edited … mayby thats the reason … can you tell me how your goldrush.map looks at this postion in the editor? (bridge)
Well my terrain skills arent exactly good, but have u tried compiling and seeing how it looks then? if you have a terrain + shader it wont appear the same in editor as it does ingame.
(that red circle is a weird leak? :P)
Kamikazee, that sentence wasn’t at you…
i did a compile and it was good but after renaming i got this… so maybe you are missing a file.
Thank you for the reply.
What kind of file? a shader? special file for the terrain? like this pcx files?
the pcx is defined the func_group or somewhere and it will not compile if it can’t find it, so this isnt it. the shaders… only changing the map name shouldn’t do anything.
quite strange this is indeed…
also as you have noticed the map has slightly different lightning and the blending is wrong(the main issue) so it might be a shader issue… it gets me confused.
erm, thats just because its not light-compiled ^^
here a pic with light compiling:
I had the same problem when i was learning bledning a few days ago,in my case the alpha brushes were placed wrong, but that seems a bit unlikely to me since you took the source of a working map, so maybe you are just missing the shader file of the alpha brushes?
I guess it could be a compile setting, or some problem with Q3Map2. I’ll have to look up what settings were used to compile the official maps, they were posted here once.
