Gold and silver cards: obsolete?

(jokingShale) #1

I have a large concern over this new card recycling and crafting system. I know others have already discussed the math of the costs, so I’m not going to touch that.

What concerns me is that this new system is going to completely phase out gold and silver cards. Hardly anyone will ever make one of those ever again, because there’s just no reason to when they could be saving up for their big cobalt instead.

And that’s a huge shame. Some of the best and most played cards that I ever got weren’t ones I was planning on, but ones that I got by chance when moving upwards towards the cobalt that was my goal. That entire aspect of the loadout card system is now gone, and nothing similar to it has taken its place.

It was like a game within a game, seeing what you’d get and if it’d be worth playing. It was rewarding and fun, and now it’s gone.

Yeah I agree, there’s no more sense of progression if you can just get a bunch of lead and iron cards, grind some credits or buy crafting kits and immediately get a cobalt card. Albeit it might be terrible but you still have a cobalt and could get one early in your playtime of DB just with some grinding.

Some people might like silvers and gold skins more than cobalts…

(Dagasawr) #4

@jokingShale err i think that choice is up to the players, personally I love gold cards so Im going to use them (its only a skin so its personal preference.)

(Eox) #5

What if you don’t like Cobalt skins and prefer Silver/Gold skins ? :expressionless:

(jokingShale) #6

Yes guys, I already acknowledged the fact that some of you might be like that in the first post. I like gold and silver cards too, but I like cobalts as well, and that’s the problem.

It used to be that I got plenty of interesting gold and silver cards while specifically going for a cobalt. Now if I ever waste my time with gold or silver, I’ll be prolonging my time until I get to the cobalt because I’m spending that money somewhere else.

As I said, it was also a great game within a game, seeing what you got even though you didn’t expect it.

And don’t get me started on iron cards, I don’t know why those are even in the game anymore after this update.

What? People like cards for their cosmetic value? Who would ever consider such a thing!?

not me. i only want cobalts because they are more rare = higher status than other skins, and to make people think. WOW. he has cobalt. he must be good.

today i saw a level 4 with a cobalt. damn you rng :disappointed:

Am I the only one who just always really liked blue?

A shard nader was always one of my biggest goals in this game, it looks so great on her, I even passed up on swiss cards of her because of that.

I mean now with this shit crafting system, imma have to stay at silver cards as 25k for golds and 50k for cobalts (not counting the price of the fragments) is WAY to much for one card in which you have a small chance of actually getting the card you want.

(yesser) #11

personally i would still buy gold i prefer the gold skins more then the cobalt one and maybe i will try some silver and just hope to not get that black skin so i dont really think so

(Terminal_6) #12

More than anything this makes card “rarity” obsolete, at least in terms of silver-to-cobalt. Now that every card can be individually dusted into fragments, the higher cost for cobalt cards seems arbitrary. Other than that, they provide no gameplay advantage so their value is subjective. SD’s given value hasn’t really changed, but now that there’s a singular currency, it feels arbitrary, in my opinion.

(jokingShale) #13

I guess that a part of this problem is that the new system feels so much less rewarding than the old one.

When aiming for a cobalt it used to be that you could make a silver or two every week, and maybe a gold or two every month, or something in that vein. You always got that excitement of a good new card, even if it was in occasional smaller doses.

Now if you’re aiming for a cobalt all you have is a months long currency farm. With two currencies instead of one, even though there’s just one product. That’s kind of funny, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a situation where there’s more types of money than there are things available to buy.

(The_N00Ba) #14

Seems like that while the new system provides you with more options on acquiring the cards you want, allowing you decide what you feel is worth acquiring, it does not provide for some people enough incentive to try out all options and/or the feeling of trying to achieve a goal. It that makes any sense…

For me golds and silvers are no more. Focusing on bronzes until i can get my hands on cobalt ones. Any intermediate step is a waste of fragments and credits.

(Jostabeere) #16

Like me. I threw away my Cobalt Redeye and will craft some nice Golds when I have the money.

(TheStrangerous) #17

I do admit that I quite like silver, but it’s not worth the hassle, golden looks too green (it may be my subjective color perception, who knows?) and cobalt’s too contrasting, and not enough metallic or rusty to me.
