Gold 5. For no reason.

So, my competitive rank is gold 5, but i only played comp when a mission to play one match came up.
why ?

Your rank is placed after 10 matches but you get to see it after 11 due to a visual bug I think.

Either way, if you hadn’t played 11 games you would still show as unranked.

And no, gold V isn’t automatic. It attempts to place you relative to the skill of the community. It just sucks at doing that most of the time.

It places me in gold 4, and then pits me against silvers for the rest of my career. So most of my comp matches are total stomps unless I get nothing but silvers on my team. Happens some times.

And then I get placed against cobalts. Much better games those are.

That’s what it’s SUPPOSED to mean, but I’ve had a gold 4 say over chat
“Oh there’s a suicide key?”

The system is ass. Complete ass. I’ve seen silver players that are downright dangerous, and gold players that don’t even know what the keyboard does. It’s just insulting.

Me, Gold 5… I have climbed to Gold 4 some 3-5 times already, only to be dropped back to Gold 5 since I regularly get teamed with unranked against Gold 5 or ‘lower.’

You know, loss after loss, after loss, until I suddenly get teamed with people of my own rank again… and so I climb back… and fall down… climb up… and fall down…

And yes, I’ve been kicked by a team of almost silvers. And I once kicked a team of Cobalt 3, Gold 1, two Gold 2’s and one Gold 5 with a team of two Gold 5, two Silver 1, and one unranked. Should have taken a screenshot.

So in my opinion, if ranking correlates with anything, it is your luck when it comes to getting into matches.
