Glitchy **** game

(Aganak) #1

Anyone else got these kind of problems?

My Internet is fine and so is the ping. I don’t warp/rubberband etc.

But I’m losing controls like every other match at some point (moving involuntarily into specific direction like my command would be stuck) and in some matches I get stuck to things like open road (!) 2x times per spawn.

The issue happens more often now or maybe I play certain maps more than before.

Could someone explain wtf is going on?
Is it server thing or is this just glitchy ****?

this sounds like a bug with your keyboard / config than with the game.
this sounds like a bug with your keyboard / config than with the game.
That would be strange since I have two totally different kind of keyboards with same problems.

I could understand the movement glitch where I move to specific direction that it could be my controls, but getting stuck somewhere, how would that be possible?
Like not giving any input suddenly?

any usb peripherals, like joystick, pad ? if so, try unplug them

(Szakalot) #5

i had a problem once when using a wireless mouse and keyboard on the same USB receiver: in too-intense moments some of the input would get lost, either couldnt move the mouse or some keys would be unresponsive.

the type of issues you describe usually have to do with the input device, and not the game.

Warpomatic net code … I got tons of vidéos about the warp issue …
Since long time that’s a huge problem …

It’s possible, I can only say I’m not expert in any of these tech issues, I guess it’s normal reaction to blame the game. Not sure have the keyboard “locking” happened in other games. I don’t remember it at least.

I have normal usb keyboards that are put into front ports of my desktop. My mouse works fine at that point I’m just moving unintentionally to certain direction. Some funny moments have occurred this way so it’s not all bad  …like opponent team asking that what the hell I’m doing? Like running past them while not shooting in the end of ev escort and just falling down from the garage or sidewaltzing while carrying the objective.

@BomBaKlaK

It could be. At least the getting stuck part.
I mean it usually happens places like open roads and hardly ever during any firefights (since it often happens in open spaces for some reason). Example I usually always get stuck in certain parts of Chapel road and on traintracks on Trainyard. That’s why I don’t believe it’s keyboard issue. It’s similar like that of getting stuck in the ev.

But thanks guys for your answer, have to buy new keyboard and check if it helps.

I have this with my keyboard in every FPS I play. I bought a new one and the same thing still happened which was a pain. Not really sure what’s up  I just have to press the key again to cancel the movement/action.

(KeMoN) #9

I had it happen maybe 4 times a while back that my movement got stuck, but it has been fixed since several patches for me.
The only problem I have with my keyboard is that it is an old mechanical COMPAQ. While it is a great keyboard unfortunately it has limitations to the amount of keys I can simultaneously press. For example if I’m sprinting [1] forward [2] and right [3] all while watching the scoreboard [4] and then try to push-to-talk in TS [5] I get a beeping noice and it stops

Other than that I have nothing to complain and I do realize that it is a hardware limitation

What KeMoN said above. It sounds like you are using an office keyboard, instead of a gaming keyboard.
An office keyboard functions like a typewriter, which will block, if you press too many keys at once. Unlike a typewriter, you don’t have to physically unravel all the stuck types inside the machine.
A gaming keyboard does not use the typewriter functionallity, but is designed to function for modern interactive computer games.

Test your keyboard above to see how many key presses at once it supports in the clusters of buttons you are most likely to press all at once. Then get a decent keyboard that supports full n-key rollover or full anti-ghosting.

Good old ps/2 keyboards don’t have that problem… USB does have it, unless special attention was given.

(Aganak) #13

Oh, I think I found the problem: Multiple keys were hitting at once since I was hammering my keyboard with my fist.
Just kidding, have to take look at some new keyboards.

Thx for the help.

(Leki) #14

You cant really just go off ps/2 or USB now…I have a cheapo £2 PS/2 keyboard that pressing 2 keys at once can break it heh…USB used to have a limitation of 6 keys (+modifier keys) at once but this has now been worked around. Still its something people need to check when getting a new keyboard and if you can’t find out the details then expect the worst.

Thanks, that´s a useful link
Been testing some things, my Sidewinder X6 does quite well. There are some key combinations where the 3rd key won’t be registered, but that’s only for letter keys that are very far apart. I can press more than 8 keys simultaneously in the WASD area, including modifiers etc. I could not find a single key combination I’d use ingame that didn’t work.
