Also, this fails to explain why I can’t even reach the page with the browser’s “back” button. That requires messing with the browser cache on my computer, not just with the remote server. (If only the remote server were affected, I’d have reached an old version of the forum thread list with the “back” button but been unable to refresh it to get it up-to-date.) Since an intrusion into my computer seems to have occurred, I believe I am well within my rights to demand somebody step forward and explain their actions. Taking a site offline for whatever reason is bad enough. It’s rude, but it isn’t a violation of property law. Actually proceeding to break into individual visitors’ computers to delete any cached information from the site as well, in a seeming attempt to erase it from history, is quite another matter; that violates computer-intrusion and property rights laws in most, if not all, jurisdictions.
