Giving Throwing Knives a Purpose

Hola, it’s me Lumpy, or False, or False Prophet… or whatever the hell you pub people call me. Throwing knives were a weapon that were in the game for a short amount of time before being removed. They are still in the game as you can spawn them in offline mode. They were small projectiles that dealt quite a bit of damage. They were taken out for being spammed to hell and being useless objective wise.

Though perhaps throwing knives could be a viable unique weapon in the game by having their purpose tweaked. Throwing Knives could be used in a similar fashion to all the Recon mercenaries’ spotting ability, with the exception of poor sad little Phantom.

Throwing Knives when thrown could have an arc like Vasilli’s Heartbeat Sensor but stick to walls like Aimee’s SNITCH Device. However the knives do not have to stick to just walls, the knives can be thrown into an enemy from a distance and detect the host and vacant enemies. The knives can also do some damage on impact or drain hp or whatever to make them a little more unique. A maximum of two knives can be dispensed at one time, if a third is introduced the oldest one is destroyed.

Though the problem with these is that they are a little gimmicky and we already have a sh!t ton of other spotting abilities, though the fact that it has the opportunity to be a mobile tracking device makes it all the more dynamic and other… big words… that I can’t string together right now.

Also please feel free to tell me how retarded my idea is, I do love being pummeled by DB Veterans.

I definitely think throwing knives iterated as a light ‘damage opener’, spotting device, and ranged gib for Phantom would really spice up his play and give him a right to be considered a recon. He needs another ability. He needs his old cloak CD. If he is going to keep emp put it on a separate cooldown. I second your notion.

Throwing knives are out of this game for good. They’re gone as they used to insta-gib players, and it was broken as physics apparently did not apply to them.

I think it would be cool to have throwing knives in the game, but in the form of an ability.

Too bad I can’t recall any decent rework we’ve had in DB, so sadly I doubt we’ll ever see throwing knives in the game again.

Sniper rifles can insta-gib players with no physics involved. Shrug

Why not give phantom throwing knives that don’t disrupt his refractive armor?

Not a melee option but a skill, maybe have max 4 in a stack with 5sec cooldown.

Especially with 4 knives at once they should have at least a 6 second cooldown per knive.
