The price is a little steep thou don’t you think so? The cheapest pack is like $30… Not everyone here deals with USD, so for some of us its like 100-200 of local currency. But that’s just for me personally that its costly, for it is a common practice to trade in USD i know. If its 30 in my local currency even i wouldn’t mind contributing. I feel that since it is a Free-to-Play game why not lower the price for close beta access where more people can afford to contribute?
Give us MOREE info !
IMO If the price was inconsequential I think it would undermine not only the value for others but also present issues of supporting a larger number of Beta testers in the closed phase. Remember there is going to be a free open Beta, the value right now (other than a warm glow of rewarding SD) is getting earlier access to the game and also participating in the testing/development process.
What’s the interest in an SD Supporter Tier that only included some exclusive content but no priority access to closed Alpha or Beta?
I really don’t understand all the surprised people that say that $120 is a lot for access to Closed Alpha. Those people offten bring Kickstarter into the discusion and how all the tiers are lower.
Fine, but how many of those tiers give you access to the Alpha version of the game and the ability to shape how the game will work? All the low-level tier rewards on kicstarter give you nothing else than a digital copy of the game on the day it goes gold. You get the same with Dirty Bomb, but the twist is … the game will be free, and hopefully a F2P not a Pay To Win. If so, then the only thing you’re doing is “donating” to the game and showing your support to the devs.
To bring the same comparision once again - there are A LOT of Kickstarter projects where the highest tier is $10.000 or more … and guess what? Some people still buy those. The CONTRIBUTOR / VIP FOUNDER pack are for those people. LEGENDARY is for those of us that really see the potential and want to take part in making of the game. Elite and Veteran are for the “rest of us” that dont mind spending ~$50 on a game - and let’s be true - there are a lot of AAA titles out there with $50+ price tag that aren’t worth it.
Also, this is my first post. Hello

Well said new user! Finally someone who doesn’t write nonsense with his first post. Welcome by the way!

Absolutely, spot on post. You’re not paying $120 for the game, but instead you’re paying to be fortunate enough to contribute to and shape Dirty Bomb into the game you’d want to play.
If you’re merely interested in playing the game, then just like every other game that gets announced, but is not yet released, you’ll have to wait a bit more. However, if you are interested in contributing to making Dirty Bomb the ultimate gaming experience, I think the value is priceless. If money is an issue, there are definitely other ways to contribute your ideas (even before playing the game) and one great way is just posting on these forums.
I just want the skins, but the price leap each tier is rediculous.
At least DB isn’t getting released anytime soon, so I can pay in monthly installments. Although getting some cash shop credit might be nice wink wink nudge nudge.
30$ is not exactly a big investment lol, I don’t think you will have to sell your car and your dog to get in the game ^^
I hated brink, but I bought the 240$ founder pack for DB even if the video didn’t really motivated me. FACT : I upgraded to the 320$ pack 3 weeks later. So I cannot give you information (NDA) or tell you it’s great (since we may not have the same tastes), but I’m an intensive FPS player, did over 6 years on W:ET, and I like DB.
Assuming that the player base in the alpha stage is much less than what it will be if it becomes spopular - the game will get modded and so forth like ET was, providing that such a thing will be allowed.
Therefore, regarless of whether this game is a hit or miss, the money spent to play the game at this stage could be spent elsewhere.
I don’t intend on buying a cat-in-the-bag - this is Schrodinger terrtiroy, and we all know, or dont know, what happens to the cat.
And I quote:
bind "BACKSPACE" "say 'gl, hf, ^1KILL KITTIES'" "" "default"
It’s shroedinger’s cat, you cannot know if it is alive or dead … you may invoque a function on a non-exisiting instance xD
It does still exists even with it’s IsDead property set to true. The real problem comes up when it’s IsAlive is true as well - now thats the buggy ****er!
If the IsAlive = true, you confirm the existance of the cat just as if you put IsDead = true since you need an instance to set its properties. In both cases the cat exists, which is a contradiction to Schroedinger’s theory.
And insults ? Really ? Grow up ^^
I also want to point out that SD could be more informative on DB’s homepage - all the video updates in the forums that are unlocked are not mentioned anywhere. I bought Veteran’s pack (30$) months ago and only recently learned about the video updates which is the only info I get for the money until the game is almost launch ready.
Anyway, I support DB because I love Brink and I wanted to support SD.
You can post replies in the video forum right?
So why not ask some questions, who knows you might even get some answers.
Thank you for pointing the message out, though it doesn’t change my point: SD tries to get people to buy and support the game, and the video updates in the forum are a selling point from my point of view, and one that is under-advertised. It could be mentioned at the DB homepage fore example. That is all I am pointing to.
Best
Casper
