Ghetto Quake Live Alternative - multiplayer FPS in browser

sup dudes. if you’re bored, check out the beta of yet another browser-based multiplayer first-person shooter that’s supposed to have top notch graphics and destructible environments all under 10 megs.

it’s not as good as Quake Live (because obviously Carmack can never be beaten) but it’s more of a watered-down ghetto-alternative in the meantime.

the game is made by a small indie developer and and i was lucky enough to be one of the original beta testers.

everything was created by long time FPS addicts, and is completely free (and will remain so, no ads or anything) … but it be interesting to see what hard-core Quake players think of this idea. (just remember that it’s still a beta, so expect a few bugs here and there :slight_smile: )

Turned all gfx down but still it lagged with too many ppl playing.
About gameplay:
Too slow, no jump/crouch etc.
Spread marker is off and took a while to get the feel for the spread.
Are there headshots? Because i just jumped(lagged) out of a corner and with 2-3 shots the guy was dead.
Hipfire game(yay!)
Spawn after death is kinda long and there should be a key to pop up the change team/weapon menu, as i want to get back in the game ASAP.

Good alternative while we wait for those quakelive beta keys(tho im quite sure we’ll never get them and the game comes out soon).

yeah, that’s dead on.

the interface definitely needs work. and the fact that people with dialup can host servers will surely create laggy games. it’s going to be interesting to see of how id deals with that.

… it’s been so long though i forget, did Q3 have “crouch” ?? lol

Quake Live will surely blow this away by miles, but it’s a great alternative while we wait.

Not tryed it yet but the utilityweb player is in my ownload list so il get a chance soon but it sound s cool and look good for pre beta
