getting pulled when you don't want to

(Bezzy) #41

CPs resupply ammo for free upon a visit. You always leave stocked up. Soldiers will actually increase your ammo capacity as well as restocking you, though.

There’s some quite useful/interesting side abuses of the drag-to system (think heavies vs. lights), but we’re going to call them high level legit

(Bullveyr) #42

About how many extra mags on start-up are we talking here?
With too much starting ammo getting ammo from the soldier in the field will be less crucial.

(DarkangelUK) #43

So lights almost doing a pully-up with heavies to get them to areas they normally can’t climb to on their own?

(Apples) #44

Thats what I also understood from bezzy’s post.

(Bezzy) #45

Not that far, but a speed boost certainly.

(DarkangelUK) #46

Is ramping still in place that existed in ETQW? That vid is obviously a bounce off the stairs, but you could also do a starting CJ on the stairs or a slope, and still gain some good height if you got the right ground acceleration.

My heavy moving at light speed! Mwah ha haa!!

(I’ve been sitting on an “I like to be pulled” innuendo since the original post, but now there is a legit game-related reason to state that I enjoy being pulled by someone else. )

Thank you Bezzy for shifting the paradigm of this thread.

you can pull my heavy soldier anytime

Too bad we can’t create resupply spots anywhere on the map just by using the ability of dropping the ammo or health packs on the ground even though they disappear after awhile.

Health could be understandable… but ammunition would be great to keep being able to stack some for awhile for other teammates on strategic places where they are doing constant vigilance.
Ammo on the ground would only function as standard ammo… no buffs a tall. Self dropped ammo would not be able to use it for your self.

Why the SD developers removed this feature?
(still a mystery to me)

I figured why… it just hit my head… the reason why is: AMMO HOGGERS (One that uses too much of something.)

I think it’s pretty clear.
Because the power pips require somewhat big time to reload (which is accented with agile not having many pips to begin with), it would be a shame if they were wasted.
I think it was just a trade off of getting rid of the two cons that throwable buffs have: you might miss the target and the target might not notice a buff was thrown to him. So by making it a bit more personal, and removing the ability to hog them, they made it so that buffs can’t get wasted.
I’m not really saying if it was good or bad decision, but it’s just a different approach, which of course is bound to create some discussion, as it has.

(DarkangelUK) #51

It just means you’ll need to create a new strategy for resupply, and also not waste ammo as much… it switches things up. It’s no detrimental to the gameplay, just something you’re used to and want kept in.

(BrigandSk(A)) #52

sometimes I forget about certain practices of grieffers… oh well… that’s the way the cookie crumbles but NOT anymore in Brink!

Muhahahahahaha!!!

hopefully!

(Murderous Pie) #53

I would love to only have 2 clips max, THAT would be fun.

(BrigandSk(A)) #54

better would be the change of movement speed accordingly to the selected weapons, ammo, gear and apparel.
The less stuff the faster player would be.

I believe the more stuff your gun has the slower it is to equip, which seems quite fair trade-off.

(Herandar) #56

I think BrigandSk(a) was saying he would like to get a speed boost for taking less than the default supplies. Say you normally start with three extra clips of ammo. Why not be able to give two back and be even faster than a standard light??

(Yeah, ammo clips don’t really weigh much, but it’s the concept that’s important here.)
