Get Rid of the Javelin Instagib on non-guided Rockets

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it feels like I’m gibbing full health people with direct hits.

I think its a bad idea. Especially considering every other non-air support attack will not gib in one hit. Air support attacks usually gib because on a direct hit, you are hit multiple times by the laser or strike.

I don’t think Javelin’s straight shot should gib…despite what devs say about having time to avoid it (1 second isn’t much time) Its way easy to press pre-fire shoot, then peak around the corner and gib someone before they can react.

Its not as bad as Fragger was when he could insta-gib cooked nades…but its still not a good idea to allow one merc to be able to gib someone in ground combat, when no other merc has such ability.

I believe gibbing on the guiding air missle is fine since it has a trailing and likely takes longer to reach you. Plus its the bonus for skill. However, I wouldn’t mind if they changed this up a bit either.

The problem with this is that also there is no discernible visual cue to know she is about to fire a rocket at you so she might as well be insta-firing from the defender’s point of view. You have no clue she’s about to fire until the rocket is already in your face and you’re dead. That’s COD level BS in a game about skill and prolonged gunfights.

So does Nader, Fletcher or Thunder. Since she is considered a Counter to Turtle the CD has to be close to his one, glad people ignore the Parts in Videos stating this shit.

Nader has glowing Nades that don’t instagib you.

Fragger has a glowing nade and a very obvious animation when he’s cooking his nade. And if he throws it right away you have more than a couple seconds to run away.

Thunder’s conc nades don’t cause damage.

Javelin needs some sort of visual cue since rockets can insta-gib…especially when other fire support mercs like Arty, Sky, and Kira have glowing light to show when their attack in coming on the ground.

I haven’t played much Javelin like everyone else here to make final conclusion. But the short time I have experienced, fraggers grenade is more effective. Adept snipers keep killing single shot, shotguns kill single shot, burst rifles keep bursting. Practically everything is the same than before, just one more rocket to dodge. Insta gib is good and I think Javelin is quite balanced. Especially her new weapon Scar, it’s very deep minded for balance.

I think this merc is too fresh to give feedback to it. I mean, hype train is still going. Based on current games it might seem OP because there is 3xJev per team at least. I played few games without engis and medics. Let’s wait one week, again, it’s fresh, few hours of playing is not enough to know how to proper counter her/play as for some people.

Should the Rocket Launcher do a short animation if she is about to firing/charging her rocket?

Honestly, I rather have a weapon like that than a rocket launcher. Have a resource system where the longer you charge it the stronger the blast is but also the longer the cooldown.

imo:

  • keep instagib in DIRECT hits
  • significantly debuff instagib on non-direct hits.

If someone can put a rocket in your face, especially with dumbfire, they deserve the kill. its not a puny crowd control nade, its not RPG, its a bloody Rocket
