Hey everyone here.
I’m going to need some hardcore stuff in my next map project.
So the question is is it possible to make geysier in q3arena?
I mean geysier is something like smoke only in other colors and moving faster i think.I want to use this effect for teleporters jumppads and etc.
I think it is possible so but i don’t know how q3map2 will work with it.
Sorry for this topic , as i told you in the last one i hate it to open for simple questions normally.

I would say that an animated shader would be the best. But it might still look strange coz it is hard to have nice looking 2d smoke. Particles would be best but q3 doesn’t have any particle scripting possibilities.

Isn’t there a tool called Particle Studio for Q3? It can generate the neccesary autosprite shaders. You supply base images and the basic parameters and it generates the shaders.

Particle studio would be my best bet. In my case it’s allowed me to make fire that is far superior to vQ3’s animation based fire.

Unfortunately, particle studio is no longer reachable at its original web site.

Fortunately, someone wrote a tutorial on the program and they kept a local copy available for download.
