I saw they made Brink and every other game drop price even since the release of Deus Ex Human Revolution. What gives?
Gamestop dropping pices "sales" on every game?
These days games usually have a short shelve time. A few months after you rather want people to buy it for less than not at all. Especially now there’s a big part handled online there’s less costs in distribution and packaging so you can go lower earlier.
There are exceptions though. Some companies just like to make timeless games that people still pay a good buck a decade after it’s released, like Blizzard does. COD is somewhere in between, they’re known for rarely sinking in price which discourages the laggards from waiting and gives them an incentive to just draw their wallet right away.
Then there’s also the trick of lowering the price right after or around the free DLC expires which means people will pay any lost revenue back in more DLC sales.
