I’d report this as a bug more than anything. When playing as a heavy, if I hold down the buff teammate button it runs me at maximum speed chasing them even if they are light and lets me move much more quickly than it should.
EDIT: PC version

Believe it or not, that’s working as intended. It’s so Heavies don’t have any buffing disadvantages compared to the light classes.
Seriously there are two posts with people thinking this is a bug, how can you even think that it is? The mechanic was CLEARLY placed there so EVERYONE can play as a team, not that heavies suffer for picking heavy and become a lone wolf, this is there to encourage team play and buffing.
I posted about this before. And should be looked at and fixed IMO. There is no reason why being a heavy or medium body should be allowed to move about similar to a light weight user.
the buffing indeed should be changed… it doesnt really make any sence and can be abused big time…
Well when none of you receive any buffs and cry about dying because your medic can’t catch your skinny ass running across the map then you’ll come back here whining for it to be changed back, the mechanic is in place to PROMOTE TEAM PLAY TO COMPLETE OBJECTIVES aka the ENTIRE POINT OF THE GAME, i.e. removing it would just promote lone wolf retards running around with an smg slide tackling hoping for kills…as if there isn’t enough of this already. Also it would just give even more reason to be light instead of medium or heavy, both of which currently have very little advantages (if even any) over light.
TL-DR it’s stupid to think a mechanic that was put there to promote the way the game was meant to be played should be removed and will cry when it’s changed.
This is not a bug.
We wanted to allow all classes to be able to co-operate regardless of body type. In testing, when Heavies weren’t able to catch up to other teammates to buff them it was very frustrating and hurt the team dynamic we were aiming to achieve. It also ended up making certain classes less effective as Heavy, which in turn made Heavy a less desirable body type to play as.
It’s not really very abusable: any speed gain you get is generally very short, with your navigation dependant on another player.
