Gamemode Baserace, PLEASE

(Humbug) #1

Since the current gamemodes don’t really fit Dirty Bomb in my opinion, I wanted to suggest a gamemode that I would like to see

The basic idea would be a combination of building your own base, capture the flag and destroy the enemies base (or parts of it).
So both teams are defending and attacking at the same time.

ET players might know the baserace map, here is how it was in ET:
“Its a race, to build your base!
Steal Construction Materials from your enemy’s base and secure them at the various ‘Capture Pads’ located in your team’s base. Different capture pads correspond to different base constructions and upgrades, so be sure to think about where you secure your Construction Materials. Capture Pads can be used multiple times to upgrade constructions. Also, constructions can be ‘synergized’ by completing combinations of other constructions. The first team to complete all 40 constructions / upgrades or have the most completed when the timer runs out wins!”

Add the ability to blow something up and maybe some side-objectives and that would be a really awesome mode for Dirty Bomb. This mode has a lot of potential to lead to unique matches, depending on what you construct and your team composition. Got a sniper in your team? construct that sniping tower. Want to be safe against airstrikes? construct a roof etc. There is sooo much possible in this mode. 1 map could already be enough to play FOREVER if there are lots of options.

I would really like to see something similar to this in the future. I think this mode really benefits from the moba elements of DB, what do you think?

that-would-be-AWESOME! We need that, now.
@MissMurder Tell the devs that we need that, please.

This sounds like it would fit in the game no more than the current modes (But also no less), so why not.

(Szakalot) #4

I’m all for more modes.

Modes and maps, same thing to me.

(Humbug) #5

I think it does because it promotes teamplay, without having to stick together.
And the different merc speeds make it really hard to stick together.
Slower mercs can defend, faster ones can offend.
Bushwacker defends and defuses, proxi offends and plants. Every merc has a purpose in every match.
I also think that it would be easy to tweak this kind of map, make it better all the time, change metas etc.

Baserace is fun but it would get a little boring playing the same map over and over. It worked in ET because it was usually just one map in the rotation.

i read it the same way first, but what he meant was that baserace was put together into a campaign with other maps.
I don’t really think it would get boring as long as there are enough viable strategies to win this map

YES YES YES 100 times better then execution ! I want this ! Thanks for sugg @Humbug
@MissMurder Talk with devs about this - this is perfect for this kind of game with different mercs - fast ones( Aura, Proxy) can get the material and slower (Fragger, Skyhammer) can protect them!

(benignMaster) #10

Yeah that’s what I meant, sorry I could have clarified. Also, now that I think about there were definitely some 24/7 baserace servers, but I’m not sure how popular they were.
Edit- having trouble quoting a post on my phone

Baserace mode/map would be quite cool and it would be different from all other fps game modes that is out there.

(Advanced) #12

I wonder how long it would take to develop a mode like this.

(Ardez1) #13

If they release modding an independent dedicated servers I bet you would see one fairly soon(Couple Months).

(Abolisher) #14

+1 I loved base race, i was thinking this game needs some CTF/ 2 fort kinda deal

(triteTongs) #15

I’m all for any building type gamemode. There is a distinct lack of those in games.
