So I’ve been playing for quite some time, but taken several months off it because i got a little fatigued from it…intense fast-paced first person really isnt my forte, but damn if it doesnt get the adrenaline pumping.
so i managed to get a key for some shiney cards from logitech recently, as well as the promise of obsidian cards, i figure i’ll jump in and dust off my few skills. but then the game doesnt launch.
ive poked around the forums here and over in steam a bit, but i feel my problem is different enough to write up a new thread.
for most people i remember whose threads i read, it seems the game just stops launching after the little anticheat thing pops up or they get a little further and get the picture with 3 mercs lines up before the game stops.
for me tho, i dont even get that far. i click on the play button in steam, the “launching game” steam popup appears for a fraction of a second before disappearing, my profile picture on the lower right is highlighted green for in-game for several seconds and then just goes back to being blue for online.
task manager shows the game running at about 20% CPU capacity in background process for several seconds and then just disappears, too.
recently, tho, a friend started a game in DB, and he sent me an invite, i clicked it, expecting little, and then this came up:

no idea what it means, pressing OK restarts the problem from profile picture going green onwards, and pressing cancel does nothing.
tried reinstalling, verifying game cache, wonder if there’s anything else i need to do besides on my end. i also have the launch log(i think. i went looking for it and found a folder named “Logs” in a folder named “ShooterGame”, so it should be that, right?), but i dont really understand any part of it and im not entirely sure which part of it is relevent and/or safe to copy and paste here. probably isnt the correct log anyway so why risk it.
