Game Won't Launch! Help!

(XavienX) #1

So after taking 3 AP exams, 2 SAT Subject Tests, I have a huge stress relief (except for the upcoming finals) and I decided to play DB. I pressed play and Steam said it was running but nothing popped up, not even the initial point of showing that NGS is running on the lower right hand corner of the screen and it went back to my Steam profile online status.
I’ve tried verifying game cache, disabling AVG, restarting computer and checking the task manager to make sure there was nothing disturbing it. Nothing worked. However I did go to the files into Config and did not find ShooterEngine.ini in there. So without success, I uninstalled and reinstalled DB. After about an hour the game was installed and I tried launching and it still didn’t work. I checked the files again and ShooterEngine.ini was still not there and no where to be found. Could that be the problem?
Help?

TL;DR: Can’t launch DB, tried disabling AVG, verifying game cache, restarting, reinstalling and found out everytime that ShooterEngine.ini was no where to be found, could be a hint to this problem?

P.S. I’m very salty right now.

Have you verified your integrity of game cache?

(XavienX) #3

@ElDingDong Yea, I said I did ._.

(ElDingDong) #4

Oh, sorry. I got nothing
Maybe try manually downloading a shooter ini?

Check if Windows Firewall is enabled? If so, try disabling it. I’m sure you already tried this, but if not, do it.

I had the same problem after the end of the Rev event. Disabling AVG worked for me at first and then it stopped working and I wasn’t sure why. I ended up just adding Dirty Bomb (entire folder) to the exceptions list on AVG.

I guess you could also try getting just the shooterengine.ini from someone? Don’t know if that would help. Just trying to think of something silly that might work. :smiley:

Anyways, I’m not sure what happened, but something changed. I’m sure some more techie people can figure it out for you. Best of luck solving it!

@Sploosh @ElDingDong Thanks for the advice, I’ll try it tomorrow. Weird thing, my friend could launch Dirty Bomb fine and play and when I asked him to show me a screenshot of his config file, he doesn’t have ShooterEngine.ini in it. .-.

You should try to open DB in Safe Mode, if it works, then it will fix itself.

(Firestorm7112) #9

try deleting the game and reinstalling. I’ve heard it works for some people

(XavienX) #10

@effervescentPudding I already said I did that >.>

Don’t know how to help you, but… You play DB for stress-relief? Are you ok?

I too play to relief myself @Mercy . inconstant frame rates, game crashes, bugs that have been here for years…ahh talk about relaxing!
