Game: no internet detected -> crash/close to desktop

(dirtyToad) #1

I have had this issue quite a bit these last few days. It’s not game mode specific and it happens most of the time at the end of a round/game. It also happened mid game (which was infuriating to say the least)
The message says that […] no internet was detected […], I see a couple of UI popup that say something similar. Every time I’m hoping it’s just going to send me back to the game’s home screen but instead I’m back to desktop.
I haven’t found any logs related to that.

Any ideas?

What is your Connection Type? (Direct or Wireless)

Is something happening when these things occur (Microwave or other electronics start running)?

Have you had Internet Connectivity issues in the past?

It’s a wired connection and that never happened during the closed beta

Try disabling or opening some ports on your firewall for DB and see if that helps. Has anything changed on your PC? New antivirus? New software?

Also, try restarting your router as well. They can get buggy sometimes depending on age and uptime.

Thanks for the input but nothing has changed as far as software goes. If anything I uninstalled a bunch of stuff I was not using anymore. My router is set to restart automatically twice a week to reset uptime and cache.

However I wondered if that could have anything to do with the Steam status which I sometimes set to offline. Not that I play offline, I just show as offline to friends and groups.

Maybe? But I think this would only happen if you were set to offline while playing. Even then it shouldn’t. Steam service does patching on Tuesday nights and I have never seen this disconnect happen when their servers go offline for the maintenance and updates.

Just for funsies as a shot in the dark. Doubt this will work, but if you are getting desperate please try. It has worked for a couple of other issues. This is a tough issue because I don’t think anybody else is really experiencing it. Definitely a local problem IMHO.

Uninstall Dirty Bomb
Delete UnrealEngine3 folder in My Document\MyGames
Reinstall Dirty Bomb
Test

Interestingly, I’ve had something similar but not quite the same happen. I was joining a comp game, when I was told it was in progress. I selected “resume” and it said there was a problem signing in. The game then promptly closed. Nothing mid-game or anything so drastic, but it seems like the two glitches may have a common source (both are connection related, both crash to desktop). Only happened once for me.

This happens to me too. Lose internet, game closes to desktop with an error message.
