Game Mode Ideas

  1. Randomizer: Standard objective mode, however, everytime you die you spawn with a random merc/weapons/special ability. Ex. You can spawn as Buskwacker with a Hochfir, DE.50, Cricket Bat, with Medpacks and airstrike.
  2. Role Call: Regular objective mode, but 8v8 or 7v7 with everyone playing a different Merc (With default loadouts)
  3. TDM: I don’t thnk this needs an explanation, but standard Deathmatch mode would be welcome IMO

Randomizer sounds fun actually, how about in an FFA scenario and it’s like One In The Chamber from CoD where you have to get a kill with every merc. You stay the same merc till you get a kill then you spawn as the next one, first to exhaust the roster wins.

If you want to take something away from TF2 gamemodes, at least make it x10.

Since DB is team and objective based shooter you would think first those game modes instead of some copy of deathmatch with lazy idea of objective added in. Maybe it’s the easiest to drop in?

Some kind of “neutral ground” where you have to plant/extract multiple things in the same map even at same time by both teams would make all the difference.

I’d kind of like to see some kind of semi-conquest mode. Rather than straight up capture points (which would become easy “nuke” areas for any team with the right mercs) it’d be neat to have each point consist of a contestable area and a device you have to activate to control. It should only let you activate it if there are no enemy mercs within the surrounding contestable area. Then points tick up whilst you hold the objectives, as per regular conquest. This kind of mode should be able to make use of the existing maps to some point as well.

I would like to see something inventive whatever comes next. Execution mode might be something I’ll play now and then, but I prefer things I haven’t played to death elsewhere. Objective mode (and SW, obviously!) has the whole Dirty Bomb spin on it, so it works far better to the game’s strengths imo. More of that please!

The only other game mode I want in this damn game is CTF, and even THAT would be a bit sketchy and hard to implement with the way this system works. Adding TDM would just take away from the true nature of this game and give a new meaning to people just looking for kills.

Randomizer sounds fucking terrifying. What if I get a Phantom with a REVIVR gun and ORBITAL strike?! YOU KNOW HOW TERRIFYING THAT IS?! YOU GAVE A GHOST A LAZER. TWO LAZERS ACTUALLY.

Because CTF is repetitive and they’re both not suit for competitive. Especially Koth because of the Frag Grenade meta.

Capture Points
I think a capture point game type would be fun, say 5 (or 3) capture areas where you have to “repair” an item to capture it.
Having something to repair would add a small twist to the typical “occupy” capture in most games. 3 people could rush a point while 2 fight one repairs and potentially “steal” the point from a larger force.

Tug Of War
Two “bases” and EV starts in the middle, other team has to “push” the EV to the others base. Closer the EV gets, the shorter spawn times get. EV can only be destroyed when its on your 1/3 of the map, can’t be destroyed in the middle 1/3. While the EV is up and running, it belongs to neither team. Defenders can hop in and use the MG, it moves in the direction of the majority. So if 3 “attackers” and 4 “defenders” are near it, it would be moving back towards neutral area.

I think you should be able to repair even if enemies are near, really make the Engineer classes shine then and make it … dirty.

What I’d like to see is a 1-CTF variant that involves a neutral EV each team is trying to get to reach the enemy’s base (because it is carrying an EMP or something, who cares). The EV would move in either direction depending on which team was nearby; if both teams were nearby the EV wouldn’t move. The EV would never be disabled, but would have its speed scale its level of repair. Players could damage or repair the EV as needed to aid or slow its progress.

Spawn points would be moved forwards or backwards as the EV passed specific checkpoints. To make things more interesting capturing secondary objectives would raise or lower obstacles that would force the EV onto alternate paths. Slopes could also be utilized - the EV would passively move down slopes when left alone and have its speed altered accordingly when being pushed.

How about a MOBA-style mode?
I think it would catch the attention of a lot of people.

There are so many characters that 5v5 with no repeat characters could work.

Three lines, two walls on each line for each team.
Goal is to blow the enemy walls and then escort the ev (with explosives to destroy the building at the other side of the map? Just trying to make sense of it).

There are side objectives between the lines which activate MG-s, Tracking systems (spotting enemies) and other traps.

It could be fun. Kira’s laser clearing lines, throwing frags above walls, Bushwhacker’s turrets alarming you about enemies on the other lines…

And of course you need only one map. :wink:

I know some people will disagree but I would happily see a public testing of this and other mode ideas listed above.

As always, sorry for my terrible English.

@JonSnow I actually like this idea to some degree. I wouldn’t say an actual MOBA game mode in the same style of traditional MOBA’s such as League or Dota, because I don’t like the idea of “creeps” in this style of game… but I really like the idea of a domination type of game-mode (maybe?) where you have to push and invade the opponents base and destroy their defenses or something. So you are attacking AND defending at once. Could see a nice 6v6 mode or something made of that…

But then, that kind of mode will take a hell of a lot of work! XD Would be kinda nice though with a little more thought into it.

I like the randomizer idea, the other two nope, especially TDM must stay away from DB. I would really like a capture the flag mode.
