Game Mode EXP on Non-EV maps

I think game mode exp is way too difficult to get on non-EV maps.

The amount you get for planting/defusing is pitiful, the only significant source is in actually completing an objective, which puts a pretty hard limit on how much you can get in a match. Game mode EXP is also the only kind of EXP that the other team actively tries to prevent you from getting, so you’re at the mercy of whether or not the match is balanced. You can do your very best and play the objective as much as possible as an engineer, plant dozens of times, but still get very little game mode exp due to the low yield of planting/defusing exp, if your team is losing. And on defense, you don’t seem to get any game mode exp for getting kills on people in the active objective area, or killing someone who was planting C4.

I think it could all use some adjusting.

I’d reduce the objective completed exp (from 2000 i think to maybe 1250 or 1500) and increase the amount received for planting/defusing to 500.

or maybe there’s another way to go about it, idk. All I know is that if i have a game mode exp mission, I check the server browser for EV maps and leave the server unless another EV map is voted on to play next, because completing one in non-ev maps is painfully slow

Missions are being removed for contracts, so this won’t be a concern come this time next week.

More ways to earn gamemode exp could be introduced. For exemple :

  • Killing or assisting an enemy planting/defusing/repairing/carrying or delivering.
  • Killing or assisting an enemy who recently hit an ally who is planting/defusing/repairing/carrying or delivering.
  • Healing an ally doing the objective or carrying the jugs.
  • Maybe a very small amount of xp for standing next to an ally working on the objective, just for the small bit of cover brought up, you know.

The “contracts” are just a new name for missions, that are going to require even larger amounts of EXP than the missions we already have. I saw they had support and combat exp as “contracts” so i have no doubt there will also be game mode exp contracts as well.

In the image at the top of the announcement, there was a 500 credit contract for 12,000 combat exp, a 600 credit contract for 14,000 support exp, and a 700 credit contract for 120 minutes playtime. I don’t even want to think about how much exp of a particular type would be required for a 700 credit exp contract.

Yes but the point is that they’re intended to be done over longer periods of time, they can be rerolled, and they refresh when you finish them. They don’t come on a cycle like the missions did, which was the primary cause for complaint regarding the slow earn rate of game mode xp. People would login with 40 minutes left to complete missions before the refresh with a 1000 credit game mode xp contract, and then get a string of non-ev maps and lose out on the credits + refresh.

Now it won’t matter. You can just continue racking up other contracts while slowly chewing through the longer game mode xp one.

Trust me, it won’t be a concern once the system is implemented.

The other problem you face is that (I personally feel) in-game XP for doing objectives is in a good place. Everything gives a good amount of XP and if you increase that significantly to try and match EV repair, you’re going to get a lot more XP farmers that just constantly plant/defuse/plant/defuse/plant/defuse or people that are scoring high but aren’t really contributing to the team (suicide planting mostly).

I personally wouldn’t touch the earn rate of game mode xp or even give more ways to earn it. I think it will be a non-issue once people get used to the new contract system.
