Incorrect. The game is in Beta Testing.
“Beta testing” is the proceeding game state of “Alpha testing”, basically a more polished version of the Alpha state.
Games generally undertake an Alpha testing stage, a Beta testing stage (this is generally where the publishers will open the game up for limited public testing), and finally full-release.
No, it’s in Beta just like the text “BETA BUILD” says.

(I know I know, smelly Wikipedia)
I really want to know that when will Full Version will be Released . If anyone knows Probably when will release comment here . Not Exact date , This year or any Guess Month .
i dont think it’ll really matter. a full release is most likely with all the mercs released, fixed related bugs and balanced accordingly. so the full release would probably just be a cut ribbon of balance changes rather than a huge party with 3 mercs and 15 maps and 2 gamemodes, however cool that would be
Ofcourse Yea , But if we play in Full release want to see how it will gonna be
Well, having played both nexon launcher beta (also known as alpha state) and steam beta, it’s really hard to determine the game process behind it.
Except the current f2p model which was totally different to what we saw in the alpha version, the in-game situation only changed by little touches. Honestly, since summer 2014, the gameplay is pretty much locked to a final release state, with only balance changes, game mechanics recasts, etc. Pretty much like any game which still receives support from its developers after the final release.
I suppose they’ll remove the beta “watermark” once Turtle and a new objective map will be released. And we objectively can’t expect more than that.
Two things which are, from my point of view, a bit preposterous considering that the game is still in a beta state :

Offering content and events to keep people playing while they are still building out features to complete the game is something you don’t think should be a thing? Should they not release any content and let the game completely die while they are still trying to fund building it? I don’t believe you think that is a good idea.
Beta is just a word to describe a situation with the state of software and it has no hard definition in the real world. The game is not built out fully yet. So it’s still in beta. Gmail was in beta for years and years (and making money) entirely because they had not built out it’s entire feature-set that they wanted. Gmail, like DB, was pretty stable most of the time during this extended beta period. It’s simply a designation of, “we still have things we want to build before we consider it complete and go into purely content addition mode”.
Could SD leave beta at any point? Yup they could because the game is mostly stable and, at least now, has enough features to be considered a full release. The game would be the same but it would be minus the watermark (yay??). I will never understand the super weird obsession with the beta designation and why people can’t seem to understand that it’s a simple reminder that something isn’t complete even if it’s stable or mostly stable. My own company builds and sells software that we mark as beta to customers who want it. They then provide feedback so we can prioritize features that we want to add to the product. This can go on for years. Does that sound familiar?
If SD was saying, “it doesn’t work because it’s beta” constantly and using it as a shield for every single thing wrong then being upset about it would be valid. I have never heard of them doing that unless I missed something. I’ve seen random forum goers use it that way but the actual company developing the software does not. They aren’t sitting behind a beta tag holding it up to fend off the wolves. But they are telling people that the game isn’t fully featured yet which is where the beta tag comes from.
The private test servers are a future branch of Dirty Bomb that is being developed internally for future release. It’s not a beta within a beta. In software development you have your current release branch, past branches and your future branches. DB, due to being an online game, only has release and future branches. The PTS is being used to get feedback directly from the community to make sure these future changes have extra eyes and ideas to help Smooth out some of the potential rough edges before release. You don’t hear much about it because everyone is under NDA and can’t talk about it at all.
For a video game, if you aren’t saying “It doesn’t work because it’s beta” constantly, then you’re not really in beta. If you’re in a stable environment and not willing to release because of bugs and features you want to implement, and that has lasted for over a year, you’re not putting in enough time/effort/personnel.
@Amerika sorry for late answer. I did not see your post until now. I totally understand your post but I’ll try to explain some of my views :
Well, they absolutely need support, I agree. But the commercial model is not beta at all since the begining of the steam version. It raised some significant voices from the community, and I feel like it slowed more important game features improvements which are vital for the game and still not working as it’s supposed to, like the poor graphical performance, server tunings, new maps… And by any means it gave people food to keep playing the game. Would you rather have a new map or some special event stuff ?
The economic model has been a time sink for them since the steam release. I still do not know why they have been so hasty into putting this thing running. Putting community servers would have a nice way to communicate with players, pretty much just as profitable, and would have been a great way to get feedback on all the important field on the game.
I’m sorry, but in my ears, they do. Every time their lack of directions show they’re pretty much answering this. And as mortis said, that’s a nice mask to cover the lack of resources they have to face.
About pts, I still don’t understand the way they proceed. Putting such branch in a beta worries me at a terrible extent. I feel like they plan to rebuild some massive elements far enough to not test them on the public build. And the secrecy is something they should have avoided as much as possible right now. Every one is getting bored and we are starting to starve… Involving the whole community would have been more profitable for them. I consider the last obj map playtest as a great success, that’s sad they went back to an old alpha state proceeding.
Game has been in Beta testing for 3 years now, Closed Beta for 2 years and since June 2nd or 3rd 2015, Open Beta. God knows how long it’s been in Alpha, before that.
@B.Montiel
You seem to be confused about Splash Damage. They aren’t Valve and they aren’t Blizzard. They are a small independant game developer that is not flush with millions upon millions of dollars in their coffers that they can use to pay their bills and employees as they work on a small game for multiple years in a row. Salaries don’t pay themselves. You are not wrong in that they have had to take time away from developing out features so they could develop monetization. They have had to do that. But do you expect them to pay employees in cheese and crackers? Come on here
People need to get over the watermark. The game isn’t going to develop any faster if it’s suddenly “released”. In fact, doing so would hurt the game. Because SD/Nexon could do a bit release event when the game has everything in the game and run an advertising campaign. And unlike the last time that happened the whole game will be fleshed out with a ton of content. Or, you know, they could release it now with some bugs and features missing. Does that sound like a great idea? All to get rid of the “beta” watermark and appease entitled ragey/irrational people who make up their own definitions of what a beta is to feed how upset they are?
As for the PTS…you still seem to be confused. It’s a future branch that contains all their changes they are going to make for a future release. The PTS simply allows more community eyes on it to point out any potential issues. It is not a “beta” as you called it. It is a future branch of the game that would have existed and be playable with or without extra community people getting to play it/offer feedback first. If you include the entire community there will be a lot of noise to filter out.
Here is an extremely realistic scenario. XgamerXVassili#1 who doesn’t know what an objective is, doesn’t help his team and also goes 2-17 every match will start 47 different threads about things they don’t like and then gain support from a ton of other similar people who aren’t very well versed with game mechanics. Then people who know better fight with them for obvious reasons. Then the trolls will get on board and do what they do. Then the jaded people who want to make themselves quit the game will start being snarky and spiteful in every thread and claim this is why the game is dying. Then others who normally don’t care get fed up with seeing it all the time and make threads about that. All the while proper feedback from players who know the games ins and outs is lost in the noise because nobody wants to sift through that crap.
I can’t imagine how you would not understand the need for more focused feedback. You’ve witnessed what I described on this forum many times.
