Game freezes/crashes after a few mins of gameplay

(Feyla) #1

Hi,

I’ve had this issue for a while (since the game was released on Steam maybe). Everytime I play, the game freezes after a few minutes of gameplay, there is no error message, just a frozen screen, I have to close the game with task manager.

This only occurs during gameplay, not in the menu.

I have tried:

  • Closing all other programs in-case one of them is being brought up as a false positive by the anticheat.
  • Running the game in windowed (borderless)
  • Deleting all config files
  • Verifying integrity of files in Steam
  • Checking RAM usage to make sure it’s not at 100% when game crashes, it’s not
  • Re-installing the game
  • Changing all graphics settings

But nothing helps, the game crashes every time I try to play, no exceptions. I don’t know what to do now.

I do not have this issue with any other game.

I am running Windows 7 64bit

Please can you help?

Is your PC maybe over heating? Hot PCs will automatically freeze whatever is using the most RAM and shut it down.

Ooh wait. Update your drivers if you have not already. This usually fixes newer games and provides a better experience.

I have checked temps, the PC is not overheating. All drivers are up to date.

Last night I wondered if it was to do with my 2nd monitor so I disabled it and the game ran for over 30 mins without a crash, so I thought that fixed it. But I tried again today and it crashed again after 30 mins, with the 2nd monitor disabled.

Maybe it has something to do with that what I am experienced… On my system starts the game to lag/stutter after 5-10 min of game play. Other Players report a out of VRAM message and your system freezes after some minutes… It´s still the not optimized game performance from my side of view!

Do you have multiple monitors? Thinking this might be something to do with it

(Ukryty) #7

maybe i try conect dvi-hdmi not hdmi-hdmi

(Feyla) #8

Not sure what you mean. Both my monitors are connected via dvi.

Bump, would appreciate some advice from devs.

You may want to try submitting a ticket with support if you haven’t already.

Thanks, ticket submitted

The exact same thing is happening to me at the moment. Just started yesterday after setting the executable to turn off Windows Aero on loading. I have not gotten a chance to see if reverting will fix the crashing, but I find it hard to believe that would be the cause. But we shall see.
No overheating, the game runs fine, pc resources dont seem to be too taxed. Can you post again if you find a solution to the issue please OP.

Its kind of frustrating, the game ran better last year than it does now.

Update:

Game was running absolutely fine today for a couple of hours, without reverting the aero change. Now every second game I get “ran out of video memory, exiting”. I miss the builds of last year where I could actually play Dirty Bomb :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway I wont hijack the thread. So will leave it at that.

I will let you know if I find a solution, seems like it’s a very rare issue, very annoying.

I actually left the game a few mins after it had crashed/frozen, and an error message came up:

Does this shed any light for anyone?

I tried running memtest as it sounds like a RAM issue, but no errors came up.

(CurryBeans) #14

At a guess Feyla, that might well be the memory leak issue. Or possibly a device driver issue. Unfortunately stop codes are very vague even if they cite memory issues they may have occured in memory (a bad pointer or whatever) there the issue could be somewhere else.

I got through a few hours of playing DB last night with Microsoft Security Essentials real time protection turned off. I know Windows Defender is mentioned in a sticky on here, so this may be the cause of the other random crashing issue.

Memtest at least will give you an idea if your ram is stable. But thats all.

(Feyla) #15

Well this is very strange, last couple of times I played, the game didn’t freeze. I haven’t changed anything…

(CurryBeans) #16

yay, lets hope it stays that way for you.

(captivatingDaze) #17

Its a memory leak on the client side I am pretty sure
Ive done a fair bit of research and its about 20% - 40% of the community get it sadly (I am one of them)
My rig can run this game maxed out with max res so easily for the first 5 before it starts going choppy and when it starts chewing up about 1 500 000kbs of memory

Im just waiting for the next updated so this problem is patched for the unlucky few of us that have this annoying problem

has there been a fix for this yet cause this happen to me today an i play games on max setting on a brand new pc more then enough for this game
