Game evolving & Modding

Hello,

At the moment the forum is filled with requests to add things to make lives better for themselves. Too scared for their favourite class (cough: mostly vassili) getting nerfed. The 50% says a class or weapon is fine, the other 50% says its overpowered. Splash Damage can’t rely on their Echo system all the time, but they can’t get clear information from the community either.

In my personal opinion they need to look back into history where their most succesfull game (Enemy Territory) evolved to be awesome. Very often I see requests which come from a CoD or CS:GO perspective, not wanting to adapt to the new gamestyle Dirty Bomb has (fast objective and team based gameplay / no recoil (etc); like Enemy territory). I advice people that have no idea what the difference is to try out ET, which you can download from the Splash Damage website and see it for yourself.

So what is a good alternative in this situation, keeping the history in mind? For the people that don’t know it, the balancing within Enemy Territory was done by the community trough mods (ETPro). I think it would do Dirty Bomb good if they release modding tools for us to help balancing this game. The game is made by (ex)modders, so Splash Damage should know how important this can be. If a mod works for the game, why not add it to the full game? New maps spice the game up with some fresh ideas (and I can remember one of the employees of Splash Damage admitting the community would make better maps  )

Just my few cents on this subject

No. Also being able to implement new mechanics, or to balance things out.
