Since the Redeye Update, I’ve been having a recurring bug where I’ll get stuck in the loading screen for a map, where the loading is completed and it says “Press any key to continue”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t want to continue so I get stuck in some sort of Twilight Zone or terrifying Dirty Bomb Limbo where I’m definitely in the server (hearing movement, gunshots, voice chat, etc.), but can’t exit the loading screen. Eventually the server will auto-kick me for being idle.
It’s happened twice on Underground and once on Trainyard. Joining a lobby or a game in progress is fine, but if I stay in that same server for a second game it is guaranteed to get stuck in the loading screen.
Possibly Related: Before the update I would sometimes not load into the “In-Game Lobby” where you can reselect your mercs and deploy, and instead I would be put straight into the match. That doesn’t happen anymore, so perhaps it’s getting stuck there.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue, prior to or since the new update? I’ve re-validated the game cache unsuccessfully, and I’d rather not have to summon the spirit of Rod Serling to watch over my little DB twilight zone but it may just be necessary.
Edit: Fixed the bug by clearing out all the config files in Documents/My Games/UnrealEngine3/ShooterGame/Config and then performing a fresh reinstall of the game.
