A new story entry has been added:
[drupal=560]G4TV’s Brink Video Preview Shows Combat[/drupal]

If you missed last night’s Brink segment on G4’s X-Play show, it is now available for watching on G4’s website. There’s some two minutes of new in-game footage to be had, largely set within the Ark’s dilapidated Container City district and featuring ample sliding, vaulting, and shooting. Take a look and stay tuned for more videos to surface as the week goes on.

did anyone else think the movement was a lot faster in here than the smart demo? I thought the movement in the smart demo felt extremely slow when I watched it. Compare that to this video after ~ 0:56. Might be an illusion of video size but they look like completely different games

That’s because I was moving more slowly in Airport. You have analogue control over movement speed when using an XBOX 360 controller. For the keyboard it’s shuffle (when crouched), walk, jog, sprint. The vault’s take in to account your momentum when used, so if you’re running faster, then you’ll vault/slide faster.

Might be all customised to fit the purpose of the video. You don’t want moves that last a millisecond or people will miss what you try to show.

Nice vid, can’t wait for the end product.

nice video

Nice. I like the jumping and running. Looks like Mirror’s Edge a little bit.

Wow looks amazing going to give it another watch when I have the time.

Il be back

Loving it, just wish G4tv would have a dl hd vid button.

is it true that this footage is the stuff shown at the gamescom in cologne back in august?

this would mean it’s already 3-4 month old

(kilL_888) #11

woohh. this looks like the fast gameplay from wolf:et comes back to us.

i see a shotgun, a freakin adrenalin pushing submachine gun and a grenade launcher as a primary weapon. which game has a grenade launcher as a primary weapon nowadays? i dont know any.

i hope people wont “spam” the smart movement too much. looks like you will never be able to hit a skilled player when he runs and jumps and ducks around

looks very awsome! i hope you optimized idtech4 enough to be able to run smooth and fast multiplayer.

looking forward to fall next year, gaaaah, almost a year to wait and i was so hoping for a spring release.

yeah, paul walks aroudn ALOT in the FoM video. I think he only ever runs very briefly, for very short sprints. The new video that came out today should probably have some more, longer sprints to give you guys a better feel for speed (I haven’t watched it yet, still dl’ing the HD one). Also, i think he tend to use iron sighting ALOT, which is a shame because you can see how relatively tight the spread is for most weapon, compared to other games out there. Plus that iron sight on the SMG (called the Kross) is really old and crappy, blocking your view way too much. It has been replaced

Yup, it is really old. Kind of painful for us to watch now, thing have come along a lot since then, as you can imagine…

(system) #14

Yeah, must be a total different experience after such a long time that’s why I asked about the age.
Yup, it is really old. Kind of painful for us to watch now, thing have come along a lot since then, as you can imagine…
That makes me wonder. Why do you release basically outdated footage?

(RoryGreen) #16

To make it even more awesomely awesome when it comes out. This is decent stuff here and they can build on this this. It just makes it better when it really comes out.

(tokamak) #17

That’s hardly an argument. On the internet nothing has a date, people could be watching this stuff for months after up-to-date material has been released.

(RoryGreen) #18

Who was that in response to?

(Jamieson) #19

Free running and movement looks really smooth, good job guys, If this is old footage then i can’t wait to see the up to date stuff.

Looks good.

I love the fact that the team behind ET is working on it and I love the Timesplitters-like character models.

The SMART system has a lot of potential.
