g_banner?

(matt897) #1

Hey everyone - today I was playing on a server and noticed that they had somehow gotten a “commander” into global chat that automatically cycles through some important things such as rules, site, etc

Has anyone else got something along these lines working? I’ve read a few posts here and there regarding g_banners being included but untested in Brink.

Thanks

To be fair to the OP, what he’s describing, I believe, is someone has a script running rcon say commands to act as a motd, since I know rcon say comes across as “commander”

Hopefully its fixed faster then it was in QW, which was never.

Just crawled out of the woodwork as I’ve been trying to set up a dedicated server.
Like alot of people I’m getting the ‘AllocRenderModel’ errors, but there is a thread on here that has some solutions to try.

I saw this post and wondered if the following script would work if called in the server.bat file.

wait 5000
say “Welcome to the server”
wait 5000
say “FF is off & full map cycle on”
wait 5000
say “Please be friendly and play nice”
wait 500000
exec message.cfg

I’m going to test it when I get home, although I’m not too sure if you can execute the same cfg within its self. the other way I can see if to have 2 cfg files that call each other at the end to create the looping.

=--------------------------------------------------------

Ok, I’ve tested this now and it works although I had to take rcon out as it was erroring.
This called from the server.cfg, will run and loop using the times in milliseconds.

Hi Sprog, could you post your server.cfg for us to have a look at please?
