FYA : Updated Radiant entities

(valkyr) #1

I don’t think I actually made a thread for this, so to make sure everyone knows about it (I spent quite a bit of time working on it), here’s my :

It’s a continuation of EB’s Radiant 1.5.X .ent update package v1 with the following changes :

[ul]
[li] Many new entities (including the small number commented out as “problematic” in EB’s update)
[/li][li]Far more detailed and accurate information on each entity.
[/li][li]Most of the entities now show as models in the editor (where applicable) instead of coloured boxes.
[/li][li]Some redundant spawn-flags removed
[/li][/ul]

This is the same version that’s included in my Map development pack.

Hmm, could you give a more detailed installation stepbystep tutorial plz

And thanks for creating/sharing!!

(valkyr) #3

alright, here goes :

[ul]
[li]Click the link
[/li][li]“Save as” the page
[/li][li]Make sure that you save it as “XML only” or similar (not any “complete” option)
[/li][li]Save it to “{wherever-radiant-is-installed}/et.game/etmain/et_entities.ent”, over-writing that file
[/li][/ul]

(valkyr) #4

Oh yeah, this is for 1.5.x-based Radiants by the way (GTKRadiant 1.5.0 / NetRadiant) - 1.4.x uses a different definition format.

(UJERebel) #5

OK, thank you very much for the quick reply!

So when you downloaded the .XML, you have to rename it to .ent?
Now i have a “et_entities.xml” wich i got when i pressed the link and did “save target as”

Grtz and thanks

(valkyr) #6

Yeah, rename it to “et_entities.ent”.

(I guess choosing to save as “all files” would’ve been the better option)

(UJERebel) #7
(I guess choosing to save as “all files” would’ve been the better option)
I didnt saw this option… see attachement ( IE 8)

(UJERebel) #8

And when i open et.game ( renamed to xml) i get this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
 <game type="et" name="Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" enginepath_macos="/Applications/Wolfenstein ET/" enginepath_win32="C:/Program Files/Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory/" enginepath_linux="/usr/local/games/enemy-territory/" engine_win32="ET.exe" engine_linux="et" prefix=".etwolf" basegame="etmain" basegamename="Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" unknowngamename="Custom ET modification" shaderpath="scripts" archivetypes="pk3" texturetypes="tga jpg" modeltypes="md3 mdc picoterrain ase lwo obj 3ds" maptypes="mapq3" shaders="quake3" entityclass="quake3" entityclasstype="def xml" entities="wolf" brushtypes="quake3" patchtypes="quake3" />

et.game/etmain

I only find 1 etmain and it’s basegame=“etmain” …

Srry for all these noobie questions :frowning:

(valkyr) #9

I mean when you go to “Save as” first, then in the drop down list where you can choose “XML only” / “Complete web page” there should be an option for “All files” or “All types”.

(valkyr) #10

That’s the the et.game file… you’re wanting the et.game folder. So rename that back to et.game, then go up one directory level and you’ll see the et.game folder. Then go into etmain and you’ll see the file to replace with the one you downloaded.

(UJERebel) #11

OoOps i don’t have that folder, i’ll reinstall it… let’s see…
I’ll edit this post with the result

Big thanks already!

--------------EDIT--------------

Ok, worked now, i hope it’s done now

yea, works now, i have new entity’s like test_gas and so on, wootwoot.

THANK YOU very much

(valkyr) #12

You could always just search the file-system for “et_entities.ent”

(stealth6) #13

might also be interesting to include the trickjump entiteis:
http://www.trickjump.me/tutorials/timerun.php

start_timer
stop_timer
checkpoint_timer

I think

(valkyr) #14

I hadn’t ever seen those before… I’ve added them to the definition file (you can browse changes to it in the SVN repository through Trac as well) and updated the map pack with it and the shaders / textures from the tutorial (so a new link for that with today’s date).

(UJERebel) #15

i uptaded et.game (folder) and et.game (file) trough tortoise SVN but these seems to be the old ones? :S i don’t have test_gas, and the tj components…

(valkyr) #16

Search your entire system for “et_entites.ent” - you’ve obviously got the file in the wrong place. The new one should be 200Kb.

(UJERebel) #17

Ok, i manually downloaded it and it is ok.
But SVN sais it isnt the right version :S
Did you updated your trac to?

(valkyr) #18

Yes, the file in SVN is exactly the same
