Future event skins

Will there be chance of skins with drastic differences, not just texture changes? Maybe after beta?

(doxjq) #2

I’ve been asking for this for a while. I don’t know why they haven’t done it already. Founders cards had some changes eg Sawbonez with no headgear, Fragger with a helmet, Skyhammer with a balaclava etc.

Heck if they’re concerned about making money honestly, they could sell these sorts of things for cash that you can equip to your merc like trinkets. Hardly a game changer, purely cosmetic, no harm done to anyone.

+1 would love to see some cosmetic changes made available for purchase.

While I’d also like to see more special skins similiar to the founders ones, the problem is that it might get hard to start telling mercs apart from eachother.

With the current merc amount that we got, that probably wouldn’t be much of an issue, but we all know SD got long term plans for DB and who knows how many mercs they want to release even before the game gets actually launched from beta.

Now you might be wondering: but Overwatch already got lots of different skins. Well, also the heroes in Overwatch are extremely distinctive from one another, from the size difference to their guns and abilities which are visually easy to tell apart.

In Dirty Bomb, it could become an issue if you can’t tell the mercs apart within the second you run into them. While the mercs aren’t too different from one another, understanding if you’ve ran into a 160 HP merc or 80 HP merc does make a difference(just an example).

I mean, already if SD would try to add another character with a helmet or a hoodie, they have to make the mercs distinctive enough to immediately tell apart.

To be honest, I did not understand which merc I got killed by the first time I met a founders Sawbonez. Me being level 4, I thought he was like a secret character or something not unlockable anymore as I never saw him in the mercs list.

Just like what the other people said above. They could definitely make some money off of selling these sort of items especially founder card type outfits for mercs to wear. This could honestly be an out of loadout card system, where they move more to selling cosmetic items for different parts of your merc and crazy new skins rather than just loadout cards.

I don’t know, I think most people would like the loadout card system to be gone. Its just going to be difficult with all the cases people have bought in the past.

I agree that higher grade Loadout cards could use some better cosmetic changes. Just imagine the crazy armor Phantom could wear, or if Bushwacker wore a leather jacket. I think it would provide way more incentive to go for gold (literally). However I have a feeling that these types of changes will be reserved for very special occasions.

I was about to post the same as Dracorion, about the tells and how important it is to know what merc you are facing etc. This is a crucial thing in games - for some more though.

The longer I think about it, the more I tend to think that DB is not falling into this category. You face a fucking gun and it will shoot your face. Thats all you need to know.

I would love to see more variety in actual models by now. The standards become boring after 1k hours… Damn, I was so desperate for the humble bundle skins, even if they didnt change the models.

i want stoker with his hood on head

(YeOldeButtcheek) #8

As much as I want skins, there are far more important things that should be done first.

(brennanfreak) #9

Don’t mean we can’t talk about it.

(Sinee) #10

I wouldn’t mind one alternative outfit for each merc that has the same outfit with something slightly different. Like Vassili outfit #1 with the hood up, #2 with the hood down. That way we could still tell it was Vassili, but still give some variety.

Proxy without her big ugly helmet would be cute, just as an example. Or maybe with it down instead of up. Etc etc.

(Mc1412013) #11

im still waiting for misses proxy clause and rhino Claus, Rudolf the red eye reindeer load outs.

also i hope they make summer load out and make the mercs look like there going to the beach complete with beach hats and flipflops

(TheVulpesFox) #12

What about custom voice taunts or voice packs? Or possibly further weapon customisation?

(doxjq) #13

Depends what ya mean. I think they’ve said in a previous dev stream that they will never bring weapon customization into the game (big mistake imo) as far as sights and stuff are concerned. I don’t know why really. Most of it is preference, it doesn’t make it pay to win, each to their own really, I only see it as win/win.

I just feel like the game needs something more to spend credits on. Once you have all your favourite cobalts + 30 odd golds + 50+ silvers/bronzes and own all the mercs there’s just nothing left to work towards. You can literally spend your credits on cases but that’s about it. Expert cases can only be bought with real money, elite cases with real money also, and things like trinkets and other features are only available over limited periods.

One of my best mates IRL plays the game with me aswell. He’s only level 14 (opposed to my level 36) but he’s been incredibly lucky compared to me with rng & cases, but he has spent a bit of money on the game too. He has all the mercs, all his favourite cards in cobalt (fragger m62, skyhammer m92, sparks 383, sawbonez cr73 etc etc the list goes on) aswell as about 3 pages of golds, 5 pages of silvers, the list goes on again. So he has no reason to buy cases, no reason to spend any more real money, and nothing to work on in the game any more. In reality, he has no reason to do misisons any more either. Lets face it, 95% of us do the missions as we need credits, not because they are fun. He also has something ridiculous like 247,000 credits available to him from doing his missions and what not and absolutely nothing to spend them on.

They need something more we can spend in game credits on. Gun sights, gun cosmetics, skins variations, other cosmetic items to equip on your merc, things that we want but don’t really give an advantage in game. If making money was their concern they could build it two ways - Use in game credits to “rent” items for a certain period of in game time, or use real money to buy the items out right so you own them.

Be it money or credits, there seems to be a gap in how the game can be effectively monitised. I’m still working towards a few targets but having got A31 and 383 in silver/gold respectively, they seem to be drying up, though I’m far from having desirable cobalts for all mercs. I say this with trepidation as we’ve got it pretty good at the moment all things considered, lord knows what F2P hell we could descend into if it isn’t handled well
