FUNK IT UP! - A DB fragmovie by MRFF

Ahoy folks!

My interest in DB has been dwelling over the last months, starting in late 2013.
I haven’t liked much the change of direction operated towards the game, or maybe it was always meant to go this way and some of us were fooled or blinded by our own wishes.
Anyway, lately I haven’t had long lasting fun anymore: increasing reliance on ironsighting & corner camping, classless objs, etc … but this isn’t the point of this post.

I’ve kept playing. Mostly to keep in touch with all the people I’ve shared good times with over the years.
Thanks to the acquisition of a shadowplay compatible videocard in may of this year, I accumulated quite a bit of public play & drafts footage.
For some time I’ve thought it was time to get rid of them to get some hdd space back, but not without first picking some of the best bits to keep as a memento of the time I’ve spent around.

So what started as something that was only meant to land on a dusty backup hdd ended up being a bit more because I wanted to share some of it with my good friends.

First, some remarks:

  • It’s 30 minutes long. I know. Heck I had to refrain from putting in more. I wanted to include as many people as I could, show something “decent” and add a personal humor touch. Beside DB is offline so it’s not like you’ve anything better to do (:wink:)
  • Aside a few audio bits for key moments, there isn’t in-game sound.
    Blame me, for reasons unknown the audio quality wasn’t even across all the videos I’ve used (some had missing sounds, crackling bits, voice chats outputs etc that would have made it more annoying throughout the whole ordeal).
  • It’s mostly public games, I haven’t been, nor has DB for that matter, quite active on the small draft & comp scene some community members initiated. Dates wise, it ranges from may to december 2014. A bit sad I couldn’t include stuff from 2013 because those were the best times I’ve had in the alpha/beta and a lot of people from then aren’t around anymore. Luckily I have some hundreds of screenshots from that time for the nostalgia trips.
  • It’s a montage. So expect songs & clips you might not enjoy. I know I do for the most part so the mission is a success. It’s a damn pain in the ass to make a video entertaining with electro genres, jazz & classic songs so I had to settle for stuff I listened when I was younger.
  • I rendered the video as a 1080p 60fps movie, I didn’t start the project as such since it was firstly for me and that I have a non-common resolution. Some stuff is upscaled but it’s still decent in my opinion. There are some black bars. I recommend using Chrome to easily select the 1080p 60fps quality.

tl;dr: I made a frag movie.

I don’t know if I’ll keep playing, I keep hearing “something’s big coming”, but it has been the case for months.

edit: YT is probably still processing the 1080p, I have mixed results. Best wait a bit!

I also agree with you game-wise…

I often play engineer and when repairing 2 or 3 guys (nader, vasili, fragger…) are also repairing in stead of giving cover… that is just stupid… give us classes please and class specific objectives!

engineer= only one that can repair, plant, defuse
medic= only one who can revive (no more help up!!)
field op= ammo guy and support abilities
soldiers= nader and fragger type
forgetting some?

In my oppinion ADS should not have any affect on the spread… just leave it in for the people from other games who like to use it and maybe to zoom in a little when taking distance shots…

get the balance right… some abilities/mercs are op and ruin the experience

fix the audio bug: when I put music volume on 0 after I close the game and restart, the value is still 0 but music is playing at value 100… (soo annoying)

give info about extra anticheat tool = recording and tool to watch and make timestamps + wallhack as a view option

dedicated server rental?

Nice vid! Especially like the intro (top 3 movie for me :)).

Not really liking the direction the game is taking either. Highly doubt i’ll play it competitively without massive map improvements.

Pubbing also isn’t much fun at the moment due to the retarded ability buffs.

Hopefully the game is in a somewhat enjoyable state before the steam launch/invites :confused:

I like that you included some impressive non-streak kills and to got as many people included as possible.

Also that triple potty kill was hilarious, will watch the second half later.

So that’s what it sounds like when you accept Freze’s invite to TS lmao. I don’t know how I made it through 30mins of full frontal funk with one pair of pants… but WTF I thought you said I was gonna be in your movie! Minus one star for racism.

Not easy these past months considering the “active” playerbase on the EU server.

What gave it away?

I got CS:GO near the end of last year, and it’s a bad habit that I developped when I was heavily playing the CS mod (in 99 for the betas and so on, gosh) in my local cybercafe. Not enough table space for the whole keyboards to hold firm on the desk, so for stability purpose I switched to arrow keys. Started CSGO, the habit sticked and I kept that scheme this year on DB after my CSGO “break”.

Usually for the rest I have no trouble switching back to ZQSD/WASD (and weirdly enough I can’t play arena fps with the arrows).

You’re in. Sometimes people can see you on the kill list or the scoreboards. :wink:

Thanks, don’t worry it didn’t take that long honestly.
It’s a bit sad there aren’t more original founders in it tho but like I said it’s only from these past 7 months.

I know how you feel, i’m pretty much the same myself and only playing occasionally so I don’t lose touch. If I don’t see you on their again, it’s been a pleasure playing with you and against you in equal measure. All the best :riflenade: :cool:
