func_rotating?

sorry to ask so many questions everyone lol, but i hunted through the search and couldnt find nothing, what all do u got to do for a func_rotating to work?

Edit: also could someone tell me about all the other funcs that require scripting, and what all i need to do to get them to work.

Edit again lol: also how do u get a fan to kill u when u hit it, i tried a trigger_hurt, but it just kills me and doesnt gib me, how do u get it to gib u to gib u?

@ first question… i think the reason y u don’t find anything about the func_rotating is that all the other ppl read the tuts about it… u should try basic tutorials imho before asking this kind of questions

@ second question… that request is just gross, man. Do u think ppl just wait for you to ask your personal tutorials of them? You better understand that mapping works like this:

1.) Get tutorials… preferably 2-4 different ones for each topic. AND get sock’s LDR.
2.) READ them. Twice at least.
3.) Try out what you can read in the tut. If it doesn’t work:
4.) Try it out again (by deleting what you built for the first try out and building it new). Still not working?
5.) Look at goldrush or other released source maps (there are several).
6.) Use the search button. Not only in this forum. And use google too.
7.) READ what you found.
8.) Try it out. Several times.
9.) Still not working? Ok, now (and only now) its time for a thread…

(No offense meant, but the way you post your questions make it obvious you didn’t even try step 1)

Locky, you can open the map goldrush (it came with the game). Then go to the room where Axis have their first spawn (near the tank). Check out the roof - there’s a fan there. Have a look at the fan and the script, to learn how func rotate work.

ive got teh basics of that i mean, i was just wanting the script info and for instance a fan, i want it to kill a person when they touch it, so i put a trigger hurt, but it doesnt gib them, i want it to, im hunting for things like that, also things like the shooters, i tried making one last night, and i also hunted for things on here, i couldnt find nothing in the tutorial sections and all, and i used the search tool also. I would hunt for tutorials, but i dont know exactly what im hunting for so thats teh big problem. I got most of it down, i just need help with the few small things

shooter_blah -> info_notnull
alertentity shooter_blah

That’s basically how I got one to work before. Just target the shooter at an info_notnull and then to fire it, trigger it with something.

but how lol, im not good enough to just make these things yet, im still a noob at all this, that is y i wanted to see a walkthrough. Ive never messed with one of those type of things is. so that is y i wanted to ask for a tutorial or working example

also, i know that when u give a func_door a angle with key value -1 makes it go up, but is there a way to make it go down instead?

ok, i got soem questions, im still a noob and i noticed that the tutorial says a func_button and ET radiant doesnt have that, how would u replace that with a func_door?

Edit, ive looked at it and i think im doing pretty good, but when i try to do the ctrl + K thing from a target to a info_null, it says i must have to brushes selected, what do i do lol

Orange, i followed the tutorial but it doesnt work, what should i try now
