Can you use func_explosives as replacements for doors when using an areaportal? Will it achieve the same result?

I think you’ll get a HOM or something weird when it’ll be gone. I’ve thought about trying it but haven’t had the time yet… Tell me if you get something interesting

nope. i dont think so… but u may fake vis-unblocking when the func_explosive is gone. i would put a door with an areaportal in the func_explosive. let the func_expl entity fire the door entity and let the door open(some flag of the door needs to be set)

Pazur’s got the right idea. Just make the door out of caulk and if it’s the only way into that other area, then the areaportal should work. Make sure you texture all but one side of the areaportal brush with “hint” though.
