The only personal stat worth recording is score/min. If you are a good team player, then you will score well, ergo, it rewards proper behavior.
Global stats are just advertisements when done well. What Splash Damage should track is the customizations. Which archetype is most selected by each faction… An updating image tracking the most popular character and weapon customizations for Security players, and the same for Resistance players would be really neat, and have zero effect on game play.
we seem to get a bit distracted here and turn back to the old K/D rage discussion. i guess what lyndonL tried to point out were the more FUN global stats he mentioned. so FUN global (NOT personal) stats like:
Percentages are good for global stats too. Security has won 6 kajillion matches means nothing, but Security has won 51% of matches means something.
what i wanted to say: valve does a great job on keeping the L4D franchise alive with the blog, polls, (community) mutations and general stats
I would like funny stats. Like fell to his death. Crushed by whatever. Ran over x times. Died 3 times in a row. Of course traditional stats are going to be recorded, but they are boring. And I hate boring.

People think they are great that they can spamm ammo or revive without shooting the enemy dead first. and say they are teamplayer and wins the game… I say play high competitive match first and see what real teamwork is

Yes, but I’m not going to. Look at any of the developer comments on stat tracking. I think Rahdo mentioned this in one of the developer diary videos, but I could be thinking of an interview he gave that I read instead…

i like stupid little stat/fact things on games. for example on CoD Black ops (oh god!) when youre at the main menu, theres a bar down at the bottom that shows random stupid stats like the death count being 400% of the worlds population and players have fallen the height of mt everest 3000 times or whatever, i like those, just for the fun stats.
