Reviewing games eh? lets face it mate these people are not “game reviewers”. Being able to call yourself a “game reviewer” implies you have some professional knowledge and creditability within the industry.

For example when PixelTwitch posted their thread about the game that was interesting, meaningful - cause the guy has a demonstrated ability

Doug Stanhope has something below about you guys expressing you “reviews” and opinions but more so about the guys who keep creating these many many many informative and meaningful polls

By all means do keep up all the mutual backslapping and glad handing if it makes u feel good about yourselves tho

This is a poll for people to say whether or not they like the game and not a review. You’ve mentioned in the past for people to tell you when you’re being a “brat” and when to stop. Well, I’m asking you to please stop.

You see Some guy has a sad time on the forums. So much so they make a whole thread about their sad time. Folks dont just make threads like that, and risk being thought of a cry baby, if they are not genuinely upset (or believe themselves to be). So instead of deriding the guy, like many posters were in said thread, i take it serious because of this human thing called empathy and compassion.

so my serious and thoughtful response to that guy who is hurling is to say “if i was mean to him and being a brat it wasnt personal and he could ask me to tone it down”.

That is the brat thing. Using rational logic, satire, humour and so on and so forth to critic and engage in social commentary is not “being a brat”. If that hurts your feels too bad right?

So leave it out next time mate unless being im being mean / directing personal attacks against your fine person - which as you wear that lone star badge im not really going to do. The general etiquette our society has as a social norm is: respect the badge, even if u think the person who wears it is a mong. Thats usually how it goes right?

I’d say 8 honestly. It’s a good game but it has a lot of improving to do. It’s missing a lot of basic features, it’s balancing is pretty wonky currently and it has a lot of bugs. it would need to address all of that to get to a 9 in my book and then it would need innovation beyond that to get to a 10.

Still, good game and I love it :slight_smile:

Wrong. Thats just your opinion. Why dont u try asking why i posted instead of telling me? Or just go read the posts again?

i post to make people think. Its possible thinking makes people feel bad but thats not on me. Lets do a snapshot:

People are rating the game and usually ratings are made to be used by others to - rate the game.

I said to review something meaningfully we have to compare it to stuff. Benchmarking

Someone else then said u dont compare stuff if u are a real reviewer.

I didnt really engage that one (because i thought it was daft) but i did say ratings are usually much more meaningful from experts. i cited pixeltwitch’s review - u can go look at my constructive posts in that thread if u want

then i post a popular successful professional comedian and satirist doug stanhope (hint hint the “slant” im taking here) who talks about people just having an opinion etc. This is to directly back up me saying “reviews are meaningful coming from experts” - not just “having a go at people to make them feel bad”. By your logic Doug Stanhope just by doing his bit, on a Television show, is trying to “make people feel bad”. Really?

I finish saying even tho we have no idea if people rating the game have any legitimacy or meaningful way to form a system to rate the game if it makes people feel good then thats fine. Which is the opposite you are accusing me of even if i was being a bit snarky - thats how satire works as social commentary. Its not just “having a go”.

PS - if people were “rating” the game consistently with 1 and 2’s instead of these high numbers i would express the same opinion. if this was IMDB or Metacritic. Common crtic of “mass rating” systems

PPS- u rated it a 9. As the games official moderator. You dont see a conflict of interest here?

I’m a volunteer mod and my opinions are completely my own. You keep bringing up the fact that I am a mod but I was a very active poster with quite a few insights, opinions, technical knowledge and viewpoints before getting mod on this forum. And nothing has changed. Also, I am not “official” in any way. I am a mod here to help with spam, keep things civil and to enforce the forum rules and it’s entirely voluntary as I use my own free time to help out.

I am asking you, as a member of this community, to not make posts like that because they can be borderline insulting. That has nothing to do with being a mod so please stop bringing it up and using it as a shield or act like I am persecuting you. Me disagreeing with your posts is just me disagreeing with your posts. I am fully allowed to speak my mind as, again, I am not an official representative of Nexon or Splash Damage. I’m just a guy helping out with a few extra things.

You didn’t read my actual post about the rating. I rated the game, as a game with a 9 because I like the idea of the game. However, I put a caveat in my post saying that if I was factoring in current issues it would be lower. But as a game I love DB but it has some issues that need to be ironed out.

@RuleofBooKz Well, I never mentioned anything about voters here being legit game reviewers. I also did not call myself an “game reviewer” either.

I don’t know much about PixelTwitch and how much experience he has in the gaming industry or how much of an expert he is at reviewing games. So, I don’t get that argument really. I didn’t say anything like avoiding comparisons with other games is the only thing that makes you an expert game reviewer.

Also, I don’t even remember you. :expressionless: Wrong quote?

I would have gone for a 7 or 8…but this last patch puts doubt in my mind about how they respond to feedback (Phantom was handled poorly) and still the lack of actions against hackers.

The gameplay is solid and i enjoy it …but the future is looking bleaker each patch

Also this is beta…it is time to try wild changes and release of mercs…yet it has slowed…why?

It could have been much better. There are too many mercs with too many utility abilities. If it was more stripped down and focused on the gunplay and movement it would be better. Also, some sort of comprehensive anti cheat is needed. It’s 2015 and there’s hacks out for games before they get released. 4/10

9/10, great game, but the favouritism shown towards crybabys is starting to detract from the experience.
