Loads of potential, and I’m seeing some improvements, even if it’s going kinda slow.
Maybe the game will eventually get to a point where it’s a solid 8/10 or better.
From 1 to 10, what do you rate Dirtybomb?
It’s good. Can become the best, right now it’s my go-to FPS.
The thing that dimps down the score so much include but is not limited to; some gamebreaking bugs, various loading annoyances and some balancing issues.
The score is subject to change though as the game is being worked on, it’s a beta after all.
Couldn’t swallow another “American soldiers vs terrorists” shooter. I’ll take anything with an original design and setting.

For realzies! How many of those games are there? With just Counter-Strike or CoD? Sorry, that number is a lot!
My rating is 7. The game itself is awesome, the straight oldschool gunplay which feels like 1:1 copied from Enemy Territory and the quake style movement speed and the overall Brinkish characteristics. The game has a certain kick and high momentum, which makes it great to play when you seek adrenaline pumping gameplay instead of slow and methodical gameplay, like Arma 3.
The negatives:
Not many maps available, and the maps we have feel very samish, just the ambient is different. I wish they would release more sophisticated maps with multiple objectives. Why not borrow maps from Brink and improve them? Less work.
Credit Boosters in it’s current form are completely lackluster, the rewards should be increased or AT LEAST make it so, that the missions rewards also receive a booster bonus. Also the change from 30days unlimited Premium to 18h gameplay, must be something one of Nexon’s corporate Sharks came up with, pure greed decision imo. So people who play less might see a benefit, but the people who play alot and prefere to have booster active to gain more will have to purchase more boosters which are overpriced.
I bought one booster right away, for science, and the gain from my quite good performance in 18h was barely enough to unlock a new character.
Gameplay is fun and rewards skill, and the most important thing about any game, I want to play it time and time again.
7 - Good.
- Whoever is in charge of loadout cards are incompetent and selective regarding what classes they decide to “bless” with decent load outs.
- Bug fixing is slow
- Devs are cutting corners going for “quick fix” options even when they had 2 weeks to do something about Phantom, they just nerf all melee weapons instead with a global change, instead of just changing the Katana’s animation to something a slasher sword would do, like slash and not expect a stab to deal damage when you’re just casually prodding with it.
- Lack of options to increase frame rate / removing annoying graphical effetcs, and with the removal of low configs, some people cannot play the game anymore, BIG blunder, RIP FiENDje
- Shoe thinking that the current blood gushing is realistic. The man has obviously been watching too many Tarantino films. Thank god he’s only a glorified PR employee on a pedestal.
- Lack of actual gun balance, increasing the spread or decreasing the spread isn’t the solution to everything. RoF and Bullet damage differences please… Please do something about guns like the Timmik which you broke, BEFORE Stoker is released.
8/10
This game has the potential to be a 10/10 for me and it is definitely my favorite FPS at the moment. I find the biggest issue is with the game’s optimization. It is practically unplayable at a decent fps on my machine now because of all the caps on the shooterengine. I might mention that during the closed beta I could reach 100-120fps which was almost ideal for me.
Obviously being able to see through smoke, trees, and other advantages shouldn’t be allowed. However, I feel it is possible to maintain simplified textures and other effects throughout the world while maintaining an even playing field. If this game is fully optimized with a reasonable ability to customize the graphical options for lower rigs, this will definitely be one of my favorite FPS games of all-time.
Usually I’d give it a 7 or 8, but the last patch killed it for me so… yeah…
7/10
PROS
- Game is very good. I can definitely imagine how difficult it is to make objective-based maps with multiple objectives plus side objectives, and I am glad that we got an good FPS like this in a long while.
- It has a good mixture of elements found in a variety of shooters, such as Quake, ET (obviously), TF2, and CS:GO.
- The grind for items is fair for a free-to-play title. Compared to other titles I’ve played, this game’s monetization system is a godsend to me.
- Gameplay wasn’t downright broken right at the start of Open Beta. There are a few balancing issues here and there still, mainly with merc stacking, but overall the game felt solid.
- Each character has their own personality, adding life and originality to the game.
- The Loadout card system seems to be a great way of balancing the game and add variety, as players won’t be able to use the strongest weapons on every merc. There’s also enough to choose from.
CONS
- Game runs poorly, for me at least. I hope there will be more optimization in the future.
- Lack of accessibility of mercs that beginners have in the beginning is problamatic, as it’s the main cause for merc stacking I believe. It also makes the game less fun, as you do not have access to a lot in the beginning.
- Lack of clear explanation of game mechanics will make it problematic for newbies, especially with the lack of information about the Mechanic class, the most essential class to the team imo, in the tutorial.
- Lack of cosmetic customization and content is bad if you are making a game that’s not “pay-to-win.” The selling of mercs and loadout cards does alleviate this issue, but I do not see it completely resolving it.
- Lack of bug fixes and hack-prevention will worsen game quality. I feel that it’s best to have a simple, clean game rather than a complex, but messy game when releasing into Open Beta. Dirty Bomb is somewhere in the middle for me, but that itself is not a good sign.
- With the latest changes to melee, and previous increase to aim punch in an older patch, it seems that the dev team does not have a clear grasp of what their core game is, or at least lost sight of it temporarily, or so I feel. If you have a good understanding of the core of your game, then you should be more wary about making a change that can affect the entire gameplay. This makes me worry about the game’s future.
Conclusion: The game is great. It’s amazing. Like many have said, it’s a breathe of fresh air, and I will continue to play this game for a long time. But, with it’s current condition, I do not see myself spending any money on this game yet. Hopefully, Splash Damage will make this game an great success in the future.
rating is meaningless unless u state what u are comparing it to. pretty sure everyone has different experiences with gaming and even FPS so someone who has only played garbage games might be rating it an 11
10/10 or you’ll step on a crack and break your mothers back. You don’t wanna break your moms backs do you people!?! Save the moms vote 10/10
Why i rated in that way??(Of course based on what they did to this day)
Balance is not bad but they need to keep looking from various perspectives to make it very
balanced.
Credit system:I would say that it is good,if competitive match would not exist(I know that
you want to force us into that mode but make some improvements to that one or not many
will play it).
Payment system:It is fine(it doesn’t have p2w system so fine to me).
Gameplay:It needs old wallrun system back until 1.0 release or riot
@RuleofBooKz Once you start comparing a game to another, then you lose all credibility as a game reviewer. You should look at each individual parts of a game, see if it all goes togethor well, and how well it does it. Then, see if the game is doing anything extra to get that 10/10. Solid games are a constant 8/10 for me.
It’s my go to FPS because I like the gameplay, but it need some serious TLC to pretty much everything.
Really good game, especially compared to many others, wannabe-AAA games on the market.
While i like latest patch, that aside of many great improvements also made melee more skill-based, i also experienced slight(but notable) preformance drop.
The game itself, for me, is amazing. It’s seriously up there with one of the most fun games of any genre I’ve ever played. So my rating reflects the game itself. However, if I was factoring in things like long time bugs and the lack of map development for SW mode I’d have gone with a lower score. But that’s only when I think about the games issues and not the game itself when I’m playing. So 9 it is.
8 as well. Its design is great, the abilities are cool and balanced. Just… Some players should be thrown back to tutorial, ever since they don’t even know how to heal as a Aura/Sparks. #HighlyFrustrating.
