Why is there a three second recovery between every burst? Please fix this as this gun could be a contender for best medium range weapon.
FRKN-3K AR (famas) could be beast...
Fast fire? Not sure what u mean. I’m pulling the trigger as fast as possible but it only fires once to my every third press. Im getting smoked by Carbs at med to long range and thats just rediculous. I have the acog on it too which just adds insult to injury. Its frustrating knowing that the dude across the way is ALMOST dead, but I couldnt finish him off because of the revovery time of this AR.
I think he is talking about rapid fire, which I don’t believe is an option on this gun. (It is on the Rokstedi)
Personally, I think all the assault rifles feel great. The recoil…the time between bursts… it should all stay the same.
If you lower the spread on the assault rifles then everyone will be shooting them full auto and that isn’t any fun.
Instead, I’d like to see all the SMGs nerfed to the point that the assault rifles are the best overall weapon in their current form.
I think Killzone 2 got the Assault rifle, SMG balance great…but I’m not sure how they did it. The main assault rifle required short bursts or tap firing, and it took about 2 seconds to kill on average. The SMG was slightly stronger at close range and significantly weaker at medium range. So maybe, just reducing the range on the SMGs would help.
Basically, when thinking about gun balance, I think the first question to ask is:
What do we want the gameplay to be like? Do we want everyone shooting full auto until the target is dead? Do we want everyone burst firing? Do we want instant twitch kills?
Then you think about how to make that gameplay the most effective all-around style and you balance accordingly. So, if you want it to be a full auto sort of game (not sure why you would), then you just buff the assault rifles. If you want it to be a burst fire/strafe sort of game, then you nerf the SMGs.

And, sorry. I thought it was on the famas also. But, I think the famas should stay like it is.
Could be a bit to good if it would fire faster.
I agree that FRKN should fire more often. I said in an earlier thread, that it should fire more like the M16 in CoD (The time between bursts). Firerate/spread/recoil is good as it is. Damage im unsure about, because I can’t use this weapon because of the delay between bursts.
I dont see a reason to nerf smg’s. Thats what half the game is about. Its fast paced. But, there is a range between that sniper range and AR range, and that’s what the famas is good at, yet I simply cant get enough bullets through the barrell fast enough. If its burst fire I shouldnt have to pull the trigger four times for one kill, and if I have to pull the trigger four times in brink, im dead. Very frustrating.
I don’t think it needs to fire faster, the three shot burst just needs to unload three rounds faster. Shooting at a moving target one out of two bullets will probably hit, combined with the slow fire rate that is a problem but, I don’t think the issue is fire rate itself.
It’s quite effective for mid-range action - I’d be worried if the recovery time was decreased much beyond its current amount.
the 3K AR is completely unusable as is right now. It usually takes 3-4 bursts to kills in this game. And i think that is perfect. But the inbetween burst time is way too much. people never stop moving in this game so its close to impossible to land 3-4 bursts before the run into cover. Not to mention, its hard enough as is to aim in this game.
Yeah this gun really needs the inbetween burst time cut down, or at the very least it needs rapid fire.
Where should I post a thread like this? I really would like to use this AR and I’m sure other people feel the same.
I think this AR is for medium/long range, on close range it’s better to switch weapons after firing.
