Friends list features (colours)

I’m not sure what is planned for the friends list feature when it gets implemented but I would like to be able to see my friends in game as a different colour on the mini map and on player names so that i can coordinate with them better, it would also be nice for to be able to see my friends as different colours that i define in the friends list so that i can easily tell them apart and am able to know exactly who is where just by seeing the coloured icons on the mini map which would help a lot if i was playing with multiple friends or in a clan match.

On the friends list you could have a button next to each friends name that you can click that then brings up something like this colour picker http://html-color-codes.info/#HTML_Color_Picker , then we could easily pick the colours of each friend to be unique. You could also use this for the crosshair colour selection too.

Hi Leki,

The first part certainly sounds reasonable. As for picking specific colours and labels for friends individually, that’s certainly a bit of a niche request. It’s a request that could go on the backlog for sure, but dev time might be better spent on a feature that has a greater impact for a larger number of players in the game.

Thanks for the response, Yes the ability to colour friends individually is a bit more niche but it is a very nice feature, i guess it is more useful in a Battlefield game as they have larger maps and more players but it made Battlefield Vietnam so much more fun and coordinated to play when they added that feature. Unfortunately DICE never added the feature into any of the next Battlefield games and have always ignored mine and other players requests for it to be added back so I thought I would see what Splash damage thought of it.

I understand other features will have priority to add to the game but you wouldn’t have to spend time doing the whole GUI colour picker way, i just suggested that as it is the easiest for users. For Battlefield Vietnam to use the feature you had to edit your friends config file with a text editor and change the RGB colour values of each friend. If it could be implemented much quicker and easier like that then that would be great :slight_smile: I know myself and a lot of guys here like tweaking config files :slight_smile:

Several of us have requested coloured names, its not that niche :wink:

Also we briefly had a friends section in the alpha, not sure what happened to it :frowning:

I read it to mean a player (Violator) can set individual friends colour as desired (Mustang in Orange, Leki in Green, Silvanoshi in Pink, etc.) that is pretty niche, usually you’d have all your friends in the same colour, then perhaps a different colour for fireteam or clanmates.

Players setting their own colour names is something completely different, and I think this is what most people have been requesting.

This feature not planned for the game still?

It would make the game so much more fun when playing with a friend or friends.

Been doing a few duo ranked matches and not having my mate as green and then getting him confused with someone else is so annoying.
