Friendly Fire in public matches?

(Talak) #1

Are there any plans to have some servers with FF on? I don’t always have a group for competitive matches.

(Ardez1) #2

Not that I am aware of. If private servers/independent servers ever become a thing, maybe. I know they want to do it for competitive(currently disabled there as well). Only place I have see it is the locked servers used to PUGs and tournaments.

Friendly Fire would make this game that much more competitive and challenging. With all the grouping of allies on objectives and enemies flanking and rushing at any point, oh gawd!

coming from planetside, i really don’t miss friendly fire.

maybe in competitive, but please not in casual, i can’t tell you how many times I’ve played as sawbonez trying to support a rhino who instahits “K” everytime he dies, doesn’t take med packs, and spins around blasting me with minigun rounds thinking I’m the enemy.multiple times.

tbh for how fast paced this game is, im glad that FF is off. it should only be optional for private matches and for everything else be off by default. heck lowbie games are already bad as it is with people running in front of you when you shoot, last thing we need is people to die from it.

not even gonna touch on the trolling your team part >_<

I don’t want trolling in this game…ever.

(Ghosthree3) #7

Yeah this will end well.

I would go insane if FF was set to On on normal public servers. If you could run your own server and had plenty of admins + a TK system with forgives then sure, why not. But in it’s current form there is no way I’d want FF On.

in my opinion FF is totally needed in pubs and in ranked
no team awareness required and everyone is spamming explosives mindlessly
It also makes 2v1 almost impossible.
it’s just ridiculous to run through airstrikes and take them as cover etc…
for me it’s a little gamebreaking without FF
there are very easy ways to deal with trolls, no idea why people are afraid of them.

Having FF on promotes better communication, teamwork and will cause a setback to the team if someone does blindly toss airstrikes or is careless with their aim. You can’t cluster up as tightly because errant shots will injure or down a teammate. It’s even more apparent how much public and competitive needs FF with Rhino in the free rotation.

As for people that intentionally attack other players on the team. That’s what the kick vote option is for.

At least Splash Damage was thinking ahead when it comes to Fletcher’s sticky bombs. With FF off it would have been simple to stick your teammates and either detonate them remotely or when players on the other team shot them.

I’m not saying have friendly fire enabled on all servers. Just change enough of them for people that prefer to play games with it on.

We can’t even do matchmaking games with FFon. I don’t do private games much so do my usual group of friends. This ends having preposterous actions when medics start to gib us because they missclicked or get bad reflexes on reviving/gibbing order when we do play on private servers. And I really don’t want to necessarily go on a pug or random scrim to get access to FFon. I totally agree that turning FFon on most servers would be awful, but some free to access 6vs6 FFon stopwatch servers and FFon matchmaking are a MUST right now. Not only it will provide a new dimension for pub games, but it may also gather more experienced players on its own naturally.

Hopefully they’ll activate friendly fire for a few servers of each game mode.

I’m hoping that at the very least to allow mines and sticky grenades that are shot to deal damage to every player on the opposing team. Not just the player that placed it there.

@Amerika @Ardez Would this be considered a Necro?

(N8o) #14
